I am in the process of building my 2nd Feldman house. Since I spent most of my time abroad, it is critical that I can rely on the architect to make important decisions for me, not just on design elements, but also in managing/coordinating other service providers (builders, landscape architect, lighting designer, etc.). I was truly amazed at how smooth and seamless the design and built processes went for my first house. The final product was amazing. Unfortunately I had to sell the house sooner than I wanted to, but the Feldman brand helped me considerably during the sale. For the 2nd time around, I didn't think twice about using Feldman again. The team is excellent at achieving designs that optimally blend aesthetics, practicality and comfort. They adapt to the latest trends and the needs of the user, while making sure not to compromise future home value by being too esoteric. Their designs are crisp, beautiful and present a unique "Feldman" feel. The team works meticulously with the builder to ensure workmanship of the highest quality. Working with the Feldman team is fun and they made made me discover a newfound love for architecture.

As a general contractor it is always important to partner with a strong design team, and the team at Feldman is one of the best. We engaged Feldman Architecture to design and manage the construction of a new house in Carmel, CA. Jonathan and his staff have been extremely collaborative, receptive to our ideas, and have a wonderful design aesthetic that mirrors our own. The result of this process is a house that we think is stunning. It has certainly incorporated our design ideas and functional requirements but truly represents the vision of Jonathan and his staff. He was extremely helpful in the process of selecting a contractor and provided us with a wide set of choices from which to choose. We think that his design sense is wonderful. He is conscious of costs, but is also very aware of design choices that can improve your project if you are willing to allocate the financial resources to do so. He demonstrated great skill in the siting of the house and the arrangement of the various masses of the project on the site. He was also able to introduce us to a great landscape architect. His staff is talented, diligent and easy to work with; I suspect many will ultimately move on to start their own practices.

We used Feldman Architecture for a recent expansion of our 1950s Eichler in Portola Valley and they FAR exceeded our expectations. We worked most closely with Tai Ikegami and Jonathan.... both have an extraordinary design sense and amazing attention to detail. Tai, our main point person on our project, is perhaps the most meticulous person I've ever met-- he's able to remember details about how I live my life, choices we made on windows, budgeting and much much more off the top of his head. He and Jonathan have a wonderful manner. They were incredibly respectful of me as the client, offering wisdom, expertise and guidance when needed, but also willing to step back and remember that it's going to be my home and defer to my judgement as well. They not only designed a GORGEOUS end product that we are constantly amazed is actually our home and continues to surprise us with gorgeous views and angles, but also helped at every step of the way--helping us get bids from contractors, mediate between conflicting subs, advise us on relations with subs, help us review bills, pick design finishes like bathroom fixtures, tile layout, flooring finishes, etc. I think picking an architect is a very personal choice and that you should interview any architect closely to make sure that they fit your personality and style.... I feel fortunate that we found a team that I could trust completely through the entire process and that produced an amazing home!!

Commented: How much water is coming off roof at the rain chain?Rain Chains are generally more decorative in nature. In a heavy rain, water will overwhelm the chain and land in the enlarged gravel catch basin below. The basin is oversized, 2ftx2ft to accommodate...
