Houzz TV: A Warm Midcentury Modern Home Filled With Vintage Finds

This homeowner had fond childhood memories of spending time at her mum’s best friend’s house, so when an opportunity arose to buy the home, she jumped at it. She then hired interior designer Susan Yeley, who uses Houzz Pro business software, to undertake a careful update that honoured the home’s roots while giving it modern-day comforts.

Wood-panelled walls wrap the interior in warmth, while vintage midcentury furnishings nod to the home’s origins. The kitchen features an inviting white-and-wood palette and new appliances. The main bedroom has ample built-in storage, and colourful artwork throughout the house and monkey-patterned tiles in the laundry room add playful notes.

Just a beautiful renovation. The millwork is exquisitely done as is the primary suite addition. Bravo.

@jabaut123, the 3D weaving art is by Martina Celerin of Bloomington, Indiana.

Beautiful remodel, fun with colors, the monkey tile, and re-purposing of specific furniture pieces. So much thought and care. Also love the art everywhere. It is refreshing to see it look unique, I get bored with houses and trends that look the same. Great job!!!

Amazing! I grew up in Indiana in the 50s and 60s. What a tribute to that era!

In the photo of the ensuite bath...in the water closet...there is a painting that reminds me of work by Patricia De Leon Alphonso...Is this one of her works or work from another artist...and if someone else, who is the work done by? Thank you! I love the bedroom in this home, by the way! I also love the Wyatt LeGrand painting...lots of nice artwork in this home!

Yes! This house is dreamy, I thoroughly enjoyed watching the video on it too and hearing about the details of the renovation. Everybody needs those monkey tiles, so fun.

So beautiful. Well done. Papa Bear chair is perfection. But the Monkey Tiles steal the show. Great work all around.

Love it! Monkey tiles are just perfect! The story of the continuous veneer walls uplevels my appreciation for so many well-done homes too.
