Houzz TV: A Split-level Flat Transformed With Rich Colour
When the owners of this split-level flat at the top of a Victorian terrace first contacted interior designer Amy Hunt, they were struggling to know how to make their new place feel like home. The space was not providing the storage they needed nor a place to relax. “There were no wardrobes, no cupboards, and just lots of hooks, so it really did need rethinking,” Amy says.
Aside from addressing the owners’ practical needs, Amy also used dark colour and texture, both to warm up the flat and to make it look bigger. Space in the kitchen was also created by the clever new laundry area she carved out of previously unused space.

Fantastic use of space and looks so cosy and inviting too
Thank you so much featuring my interior design project! Really loved working on this project.
These small spaces are demanding and the designer accomplished a lot. I liked the laundry in the upper hall closet, the wallpaper on the back of the book shelves, the uncluttered powder room, and just about everything. I’m always happy to see a floor plan included in the article. It’s fun to see the range of where people live, from small to average to huge homes in Houzz articles.
Could you share details on the kitchen countertops? Materials? Manufacturer? Thank you
Really like the idea of bringing the outside colors in to blend the exterior with the interior as one cohesive space. It's subtle yet effective. The extension and continuity actually make the place feel bigger. Lovely.
