How much is too much gold in a room?

Update on my living room, I went for the blue chimney breast, a gold pendant and a gold framed picture. Now thinking of the mirror or clock colour - should I steer away from more gold? Also the lampbase as well to consider! Not into too much matchy matchy but I do love the richness of gold!

I know there are no rules but always good for others insight! Thanks :))

Is this still for your rental? There are so many clocks around at different prices, but this one's a bargain on Amazon 60cm diameter https://www.amazon.co.uk/SEJU-Large-Metal-Roman-Numeral/dp/B077ZJDYDT?ref_=fsclp_pl_dp_2

Also, love this lamp, but a bit pricey for a rental.

I agree deepen the color, don't change it and yes art art art! maybe lessen the presence of the brick with the earlier suggestion of the metal cogs its and use traditional artwork pics/nature/paintings on the painted wall. I also like the idea to paint the part of the wall that juts out in a darker shade of the same color. Now you have lots to consider and lots to dismiss as well. Good luck and have fun

Hi Travis and SoYoung - thanks for mentioning the fireplace.....I was thinking that I would keep it simple with a wood shelf over it and a large piece of Art but I now think it might be a bit lost. Would love some ideas as it needs to work with the built-ins which are slightly domineering. Also, Liam_Boyle - agree re the unbalance. The TV will be staying but I have a lovely coffee table and 2 identical sofas coming so I'm hoping to lay out symmetrically in the room. Will keep 1 of the chairs. Hope this will balance up. Thanks.

Agree with alant1000 about starting from scratch, but not sure about white. They are some lovely either light grey, light green, or light caramel, which will keep the room warm feeling, and less stark. The wallpaper feature wall you presently have is far too dark for the room - if you want wallpaper, there are some lovely sparkle designs, or stick to paint and do a slightly darker colour than the chosen wall colour. Have you thought about painting the doors white? The dark curtains do not help either. Do you need curtains and vertical blinds? If you lost the curtains, the window would look neater and lighter. I have to agree with nudejude regarding the upholstered furniture sizes and positions. The room looks long and narrow, so placing 2 chairs or a 2 seater sofa opposite another 2 seater would allow you to enter through the door and walk, unrestricted, through to the opposite end of the room. An area rug between the sofas, large enough to fit under their front legs and perhaps a clear coffee table in glass or Perspex between would make a great conversation area. There may be enough length to the room to use a console table behind the sofa nearest the double doors with 2 small occasional chairs. A pair of lamps would provide light for the sofa and for the chairs. If the chairs are needed, they can be brought into the main conversation grouping. A Roman blind, with or without the curtains, would set off the window. Throw cushions in a variety of patterns and colour, will add interest to the upholstered pieces. Good luck and enjoy your home.

Thank you for those links MATH! Cute lampshade, but yes agree a tad expensive for a holiday let.

The clock is a bargain, I need to forget my own personal taste and just fill the space I guess. I like the clocks its just it seems everyone seems to have them! Ive seen lots I like but all over £100 plus - I have to be disciplined!!
