Help! What type of paint and brush!

Hello all, I’m looking at repainting the doors in my house - it’s a 6 year old new build so the doors are not toddler fingerprint stained!

Where I need advice is which type of paint to use and how to apply it. The doors have a really nice grain look and finish to them - which I don’t want to lose. Is anyone able to advice on what type of paint to use and how to apply it - pics attached.

For info i have recently redone the skirting and door frames in pure brilliant white gloss - which looks good. However I’m afraid the doors will lose the natural wood effect if I paint them in this.

No expert on this but I’m painting my kitchen cabinets which have a similar wood grain effect. I suggest you sand them lightly first, apply 1 or 2 coats of a water based undercoat suitable for wood then 2 coats water based satin, again suitable for woodwork. Oil based paint such as gloss might clog up the wood grain detail. For brushes, generally a synthetic brush for water based paints and emulsions and natural bristle for oil based paints, make sure brushes are good quality ones. If possible take door off the hinges, remove handles and work on them flat. I’m doing my cabinets differently with, primer, emulsion and then water based clear varnish, about 6-7 coats in total and the wood grain is still visible.
To be fair, the door in the photo looks in good condition, maybe just a good clean up is all that’s needed. I find a magic eraser sponge for marks and some good old Cif cream cleaner can work wonders. Also, if the doors are a standard size then Wickes sell them pretty cheap, might save you a load of hassle.

A soft mossy or grey green would be my first impulse but Sarah's dark blue looks good. It depends on your kitchen ware. White porcelains will pop with the blue and earthy stoneware will go more with the soft greens. I'd add a shelf to extend from the cabinet across the tile and a pot rack or hooks over the stove.

thank u . yes need a bigger table for room. this one is to small. also I have two semi circle wall light lights on each wall. light fittings are brushed chrome no sure if this matter when choosing ceiling lights. I want to keep it traditional . thanks for all ur help.

I feel in a situation like this, I would not add windows with no view that would probably end up with some type of coverings a great deal of the time. My situation would be use of mirrors to reflect available light back into room. Mirror could be styled to look like Windows etc. we have a similar situation in our kitchen, and we mirrored over the sink, and created two faux windows using mirror and drapery side pannels. The effect works great, and when you add the right lighting the effect is wonderful, day and night. Take a good look and visualize day and night views creating with mirrors designed into a "today" style and look.

Melissa, when I said footboard, I meant this. It has a portion of the bed that extends beyond the mattress edge. You posted a bed that had something at the foot section of the bed. By platform, I mean a bed that has a hard area and only a mattress on it. Like this. It does not extend beyond the edge of the mattress, but does not have a box spring. It is also lower to the ground. The picture you posted was a high profile bed and box spring. It was not on a typical bed frame. A standard bed frame, used with box spring and mattress looks like this. Virtually invisible and does not extend out beyond the mattress/box spring set. That being said, I'd recommend you get a headboard that is not too big for your space. Neither in height or depth (distance from the wall). I would also not get a mattress frame that extends beyond the size of the mattress. Sorry to have not been clear before.
