What to do with the alcoves either side of the fireplace

Hi! I have 2 alcoves (~140 cm) either side of my fireplace in my living room that I have been staring at for almost 3 years now. I have been hugely inspired by the photos on Houzz but am reaching inspiration overload. I thought I would simply put a floating cupboard unit with open shelves but after the carpenter came to measure and explain the final look I have gone off that idea and am back to square 1. One side will have a TV and I would like light features in the design. What do you think?! Emma
