Why does my shower tray creak and flex when I step into it?

This is a common issue, and it's usually not as serious as it sounds.

A little flex or creaking often means the tray isn't fully supported underneath, rather than being damaged

It's most common with acrylic or lightweight trays that weren't fully bedded on adhesive or a solid base during installation

If there's no visible cracking or water pooling, it's rarely urgent, but worth monitoring

A qualified fitter can usually access underneath, often via an access panel, and add extra support without removing the whole tray

Full replacement is only needed if the tray is cracked, the waste seal has failed, or water is getting underneath

If it's just noise with no leaks, it's worth getting it checked sooner rather than later - support issues are far easier to fix early than once water damage sets in.
