Help arrange/layout my loft conversion!

I’ve got this design done from an architect. I initially liked the plan, however it just playing devils advocate and wondering if I should be having the wardrobes in the main bedroom and create a bigger bathroom?
If so how does that work?

In this case having wardrobes in bedroom Will be more suitable as there Will be more storage than having WIC, also if you can move the air admittance Valve hidden into left wall and move bedroom enterance door here Will give more better flow for the bedroom

But where in the bedroom could it realistically go so it doesn’t take up too much space? We also wanted the walk in wardrobe vibe

HI -- gross635 -- Your right to some degree but you can't move the main floor bath to the other side because then that interfers with the floor plan on the second floor. Would not work . I would have loved to turn the whole plan around but it won't work in this case. Added note to what I posted before is to get rid of anywalls you don't need and also not every room has to have a door. Like the one on the lounge and the one at the end of the hall. I would open the lounge up by not having the walls on the entrance hall . As for a closet , there is space in front of the set back powder room for some coat hooks etc. I also question the fact of , if the lounge is really needed. Everything could have been shifted to the front and the kitchen set back , then that would have made a larger dining/familyroom area . But that would have ruined the resale value . So I think moving the bathrooms was the lest and best for this plan. One question I have , is this an English plan ?, because the English love putting doors on every room ?And usually the doors swing the wrong way.

Lots of ideas....couldn't resist adding my two cents. i copied your photos and did a little cut and paste- it's messy, but hopefully gets the main idea across. i'd put your sofa in front of the large book case, chair by the fireplace, tv on the stand on the wall opposite the fireplace - so you can either look at the fire or the tv. Someone suggested using frames of one color for your photos - an inexpensive way to do that would be to spray paint them all a dark color-black goes with everything. Since your shelves are a medium tone wood, display things that are dark or light so that they contrast against the wood. Limiting your display items pallette to a few values usually helps to unify things. (I think that's why so many people want to paint the shelves or put inserts in the back to help your nice things read more clearly...some get lost). If you want to "splurge" -you may consider having a carpenter make a few solid tall cabinet doors to provide a visual break in the shelving. I'm showing 3 doors - 1 on the right side of the fireplace and 2 on the left to leave two open vertical shelves for display on each side - with things arranged to frame the fireplace as the focal point. To add some height to your big vases, consider stacking some books beneath them. Enjoy experimenting untill you get something you're happy with - good luck!

I disagree with the above comments. If you're open to big changes, especially if you plan on replacing the fireplace, you could install a lower mantle, and install the TV above it on a swing arm. This way, the TV and fireplace will remain the focus in the centre of the room, while still being able to view the TV wherever you deem most comfortable on any given day. I think the oblong shape of the room would allow for a couple different seating arrangements. Looking at the second image (fireplace on the right), imagine a compact love seat with it's back facing the double doors. Across from the love seat, 2 accent chairs, backs facing the photographer. Add a coffee table of your choice, and you now have a conversation space in front of the fireplace that is also ideal for watching TV. Thinking about the space behind the love seat, closest to the double doors; a half-height, full-width bookshelf would be lovely along the right wall (left of the fireplace), or even a cushioned bench seat with storage underneath, or both! One orientation to the right of the fireplace, and one to the left. Behind the love seat you could place a console table with lamps and accent decor that would create a visual division, making each seating area seem more intimate and purposeful. Add a full-width, floor length set of drapes on either side of the double doors and area rugs under each seating area and Bob's your uncle!

Hello. I see you posted in December, but if you haven't already re-arranged: 1. I agree wholeheartedly about the roman blinds. (Nifty idea to reuse the great fabric of the curtains. I didn't think of that one ) 2. I'd move the armchair to the left of the fireplace where the lovely vase is. Vase under bay window instead maybe? 3. Put the TV on the wall below the framed photos: 90 cm above floor level is a comfortable height for seated viewing. 4. Then the sofa can go on the opposite wall, it's more welcoming when you walk in the door from the hallway. (To the left of the bay window) As for small L-shaped sofas, the smallest I've seen is a sofa bed from IKEA. Very tidy but I've not tested it for comfort. Has integrated storage for bed covers. Neat. 5. Then turn your rug and coffee table 90 degrees, parallel with the fireplace wall and in line with the bay. (Turning the long axis of these items across the width of the room will make it appear wider, especially where you already have the extra width of the bay.) Without dimensions of these items and the room I can't be sure will that fit. But if you're not already sorted I guess it's worth a try.

Swap the ensuit and walk in spaces on the plan , have the new walk-in door opposite the bedroom door , you can then utilise the eaves for built in storage and have a u shaped storage design. Use the long run of the new ensuit for shower at end, basin in middle and toilet at the other end.

Actually a really good idea Dee. So I would use where the toilet is now as the shower / part of the bathroom?

Only part I’m not super keen on is having the wardrobe outside the bedroom essentially

Giving up the WIC will create bigger bedroom space that usable for another furniture and mostly people didnt take a long time in WIC probably 10 minutes everyday but if you want to sacrifice bedroom size for closet size WIC you can but it probably will be tight for both WIC and bedroom. ideally I recommend the left side entirely for 4 piece ensuite. If the roof height isnt enough for shower just flip the shower position with the bathub.

Choose priorities according to your needs and daily activities that comfortable for you : Bedroom Sizes/Clothes Storage Sizes/Bigger Ensuite.

*notes : The Air Admittance Valve can be hidden in the wall and accessed by concealed door for maintenance
