This is a tricky one Jurgita. An eye watering £4000 to glaze one side - how would you clean the outside of this glass? It would need to be hinged like a door. Much cheaper solutions such as bamboo screens or plastic ‘ivy’ curtains might be effective but would cut out the light. This see-through plastic tarpaulin might be one solution to try but how practical would it be to attach it to your balcony opening? A transparent curtain such as a shower curtain on a rail so you could open and close it when needed would be ideal and you can buy weights on a roll to put in the hem to hold it straight. Have any of your neighbours found a solution?

Just to clarify, is the £4000 quote to glaze the section above your existing glass rail? Or is it to fully glaze the whole section? In my post above I was thinking about the top half being glazed that you could open it to clean.

What about a storage box with screen? Or a wooden planter with trellis?

I was looking into some options of outdoor shades since there are custom made ones based on the specific measurements. However, I am not sure if they can be installed in my balcony and whther they would withstand strong winds. Also, I would need to find someone to install it.
