Thank you. This would be fully Hague blue walls, and a white ceiling. As we don't have panelling or anything for the walls, they will just be plastered.

I've seen it in brighter spaces and it looks good, just unsure in this hallway. Especially as we don't have coving or cornice so it will be quite an abrupt transition from the blue to the white. Happy to hear any other suggestions too!

Personally I don;t like such dark colours with white, I find the contrast too much but that's just my preference. I do like Hague Blue but I also have found that light starved spaces can feel so cold with pure white, I always prefer overtly warm colours in such places, burnt teracottas etc. However lighting can be transformative. If you've already got spots them swapping them out for really good high CRI ones can be a game changer. I've got Collingwod H2 Deco lights and they gove off a really nice pinkish glow. What is going on the floor?

Hague Blue is a beautiful colour, but in a narrow hallway with no natural light and only spotlights, it risks feeling oppressive rather than atmospheric. The rooms off your hallway - brushed gold, maritime teal, olive are all working in a warmer register, and Hague Blue’s coolness could feel disconnected as you move through the flat.
If you want something with quiet depth that sits more harmoniously with your existing rooms, Farrow & Ball’s Oval Room Blue is worth considering. It holds more light than Hague Blue, has a gentle warmth to it, and will give you that enveloping hallway feeling without closing the space in.
On the ceiling, keep it light. Paired with School House White above, Oval Room Blue would feel cohesive and gently luminous, and a pale ceiling will reflect your spotlights back into the space, making the corridor feel taller and less enclosed.
The All White woodwork is the right instinct throughout.

I very much like a strong colour on the walls. In this space there are a lot of doors so the strong colour will be like a frame for all of the white doors.
It I agree that stark white and a dark blue are a little severe and my preference would be a soft white with dove grey ceiling.

As far as lighting you could add a new ceiling 4” lower than the existing one by battening the ceiling and then plasterboards and skimming- this gives you an opportunity to add ceiling lights. You could also consider walk over lights in the floor.

@Betty Boo We don't have the time or finances to add panelling at the moment unfortunately. I'd like to try it in future though.

We may try a different shade (such as a less pure white) for the ceiling but stick to the 'all white' for the woodwork.

Thanks for the spotlight suggestion. We don't have a dimmer switch for this hallway as the old electrics struggle, so we've only got dimmer in two rooms. But will try these spotlights to see how they work for us.

I love terracotta and will investigate that as an option for the walls.

For the floor, it's likely to be a pale cream carpet (at least in the short term) with a fairly dark (burgundy, navy, pale blue) runner rug.

@Urvashi Patel Interiors Thank you. I really like Oval Room Blue, but it is too similar to the Maritime Teal bedroom. Because these doors are usually kept open, we are looking for something that doesn't seem like it is blending with the rooms off the hallway (because each is a different colour). Some wall lighting would be nice, we will look at rechargeable options.

@Jonathan I know it is a bit risky that the Hague Blue with All White woodwork could look stark. One reason for considering this is because if each room is a different colour, sticking to All White for woodwork throughout the flat might at least add some consistency. A different white (or grey) on the ceiling might work, as long as the shade is different enough that it doesn't look like we've accidentally used the wrong paint!

That makes sense. I really loved hague blue and it will work beautifully with white woodwork. Definitely put rechargeable lights and I would add some brass detailings which will reflect those lights into the space beautifully. Like brass frames or decor on the walls
