A silver carpet and yellow walls can look mismatched. And Beach Walk is sand coloured and Egyptian Cotton will look yellow in electric light.

So you need to do two things.

1/ establish if the carpet is silver of if when scrutinised does it have beige tones too? In which case the Egyptian cotton could be good.

2/ consider a strong colour instead. Two pale colours next to each other will always draw a comparison but a strong wall colours next and your pale carpet will not. Consider a colour such as Farrow and Ball Vardo but keep the woodwork, coving, fireplace and cabinet all in white. Then pair the niches inside the cabinet in the strong colour and the ceiling in grey. Once you have curtains up and pictures on the wall there actually won’t be that much wall showing and the strong colour choice will help frame everything else.

You could also choose a different colour to compliment your chairs such as Farrow and Ball Sulking Room Pink

Thank you. Gosh, the white does look nice. The current colours are just the wood and recycled cupboard doors so I was planning on using 1 colour. I love the pink idea but my husband says no to it - grrr. That was my initial choice. the

He’s probably colour blind and as long as the tin doesn’t say pink he will probably be fine.

Tell him this one is taupe.

I would look at the cushion for inspiration. The navy and rust colours match the Chair. I've painted a chimney breast wall in Morris & Co " Red House" and I love it. It is a bold move but when your shelves and cupboards start to become "dressed" the colour won't be so "out there".
