Needing help with Landscaping for new build project

Seeking advice and help with landscaping on our new build site.
Currently dilapidated outbuildings (need removing) and hardscaping to the front elevation.
It needs definition - some grass, some parking and boundary fencing.
Don’t know where to start??

Hiya,

What a lovely build! Congratulations :)

Consider how you live there and your lifestyle. Would you like to spend more time at the rear of the house or the front? Where do you get the least amount of traffic noise? That's where you'd put a patio and a garden, preferably with easy access to the kitchen so you can have meals outside on sunny days.

Is your kitchen to the side of the house? Ideally you want to be able to park your car near the kitchen/boot room, so you can easily bring your shopping in and wont have to traipse in with muddy boots into a nice clean hallway. Our boot room opens straight onto the driveway which is a lifesaver, and keeps our front entrance clean and ready for guests.

Another factor to consider is children, if you have any. Where would they be safest playing? You dont want them to wander out into the road or for anyone driving past to be able to see them. So that will also influence the placement of the garden.

Will you plant fruit and veg? Flowers? You need to think about where you get the biggest hit of sunshine during the day.

What a lovely location and building! This space deserves a very well thought garden in order to maximise the integration with its surroundings and the views from the beautiful new house. Having a topographical survey done of the plot would be an ideal as it will give you vital information about things such as your levels which will help to inform a future-proof garden. Next is to consider the functions that you want to have from your garden, views from the house, the direction of sun travel through the day and views out to the surroundings.

I am a garden designer offering a complete package done in person or online including 3D visuals of my concept plan to get your feedback on and a set of detailed documents as the blueprint for the garden build/planting. I would be very happy to help you with this if you are interested.

thanks for posting the photos. First, I feel like there is a mix of styles in the design that aren't really complementing each other. The waterfall walnut frame around the frig and wall oven areas is VERY modern. But the rounded front cooktop/bar, the divided light glass front cabinet doors, and molding on the upper cabinets are very traditional -- maybe even a bit 'cottage'. The looks are fighting each other IMHO. Also, I would reconsider the placement of the wall ovens -- they seem very crowded back in that corner. And the range hood going to the ceiling but the cabinets stopping short looks odd to me. Maybe a different hood with a narrower chimney would look better. And, is that the dishwasher on the island? --- Yikes -- I would want that right next to the sink (otherwise you'll be dripping water all over the floor everytime you load it)

Where is your refrigerator? If you move your stove over is there room for a refrigerator and a stove? You will need at the very least 12" on each side of your stove. Your sink can either go by the window or on the island. Another option is to put the stove on the outside wall and move the window over. If you do this you can put the sink on the island. The refrigerator can go on the back wall and you might have room for a 24" wide pantry at the end next to the door and the refrigerator can go next to the pantry.

Buy/Build/Renovate? Advice needed!

Hi everyone. Looking to become a homeowner & feel a little green, so would love some insight and advice on the above. The area that we are looking in has a very limited number of options currently on offer. There is one house available that looks in need of complete renovation/modernisation (it has been on the market for a number of years, has not been lived in full time for over a decade & looking at pictures seems like it would need a completely new heating system - looks to be all storage heaters at the moment). However, there is a good amount of garden space with it, which is really appealing and it could have great potential - because it has been on the market for so long, maybe we could haggle with the price? Every time I watch a home renovation show, it seems that there are so many hidden costs and ends up costing over what was originally budgeted! Would love to hear from someone who has recently undertaken a similar project - it is a 2 storey and would possibly need a kitchen extension or some changes to the floor plan for a more open living space downstairs. What were the costs like? How long did the project take? Did you manage to stay within your budget? Is it worth renovating over trying to do a self build? There are some sites for sale in the area too, but would be apprehensive about not being able to get planning permission on a site - would it be silly to purchase a site without planning? Having more control over the project/fewer surprise costs would be really appealing, but obviously don't want to be left with a site if we aren't granted planning. Those of you that have gone the self - build route, did you manage to stay on budget & how long was the process from start to finish?

When deciding on your dream home the question is build a new home or renovate a house into a home. From our experience clients know what there want. if a client wants a new build there go for a new build. If a client wants a renovation project there will go this route. Once the decision is made it comes down to affordability and budget availability. A new build gives a clear starting line but there is hiden costs you need to be aware of. On the flip side a renovation project requires additional works before you get to a clear starting line however, the government has introduced grants to take account of the investment a person/ family/ civil partnership will need to make a vacant or even derlict house a home.
