Damaged paint after wall paper stripping

Hello - keen to get any tips on how to deal with the situation below.

I removed wall paper from two walls using bartoline wallpaper stripper, warm water and a scraper/elbow grease. On one wall (a more recent stud wall) it came away really easily and barely even needs repainting.

However on the other (an original wall in our c.20 year old new build) it has pulled quite a bit of the underlying paint away. I think this was because the original builder has not primed/mist coated the underlying dry wall / plaster correctly.

Any advice greatly appreciated. I am fairly seasoned at straight forward decorating, but have never had to deal with a more fundamental issue like this.

How can I ensure the problem is addressed, and I achieve a good finish?

Having been in the same situation with my 60s walls, you have a few options: hire a plasterer to skim the wall, patch the wall with ready mixed plaster repair, hang lining paper. I've used https://www.wickes.co.uk/Knauf-Pro-Roll-Max-Plaster---13-5kg/p/166799 to acheive good results. I find lining paper still shows the defects if they have not been repaired beforehand.

It’s not that bad.

Give the wall a quick sand to lift any remaining loose paint.
Fill and sand any places you gouged the plaster with a scraper when removing the paper.
Vacuum the wall to remove any dust.
Mist coat.
Two further coats of paint.
You will get a better finish with a Matt paint

It should be fine when you are finished but if you have any area where there is a visible problem in specific areas you can fill once more then sand and paint…… but I bet you don’t need to.

I personally like the kitchen, kind of a Scandinavian modern look. leave the skirts, doors and trims as is. Paint wise, I am going to invite you to a kitchen gallery that I think works well with the existing aesthetic you have now. I like the "Melrose Kitchen" in this instance, as an example of wall color. The trim is painted here, but leaving yours as is, I believe, would be fine! Happy Houzzing.

That is a very nice laundry room that just needs a little texture and color to give it personality. I would paint the walls something like sage green, add some pottery to the open shelves and artwork to the right of the closet or on the wall we cannot see. With your lovely large dog you probably don't want to add a rug, but tile above the counter and a basket or two above or below the cabinets could add additional interest. A green plant on the window ledge would also bring life into the room.

This is a renovation of a stairwell, hallway and landing we did recently. As you can see, we also created bespoke paneling for the client and the space itself is quite similar to yours.
