how to manage a repurposed dining room and reverse later

Sorry room is a mess, so no photos. Victorian House. it was a fairly uncluttered dining room, converted into a music room / office. It has an upright piano, Hi-Fi with floor-standing speakers and shelves on one side of the room either side of an old fireplace with mantlepiece. Radiator is opposite fireplace, but to corner same side as door (opposite end), Piano is fairly near door, so a bit of a pinch point as the door opens inwards towards the piano. Can't really put the piano anywhere else because of radiator position and need somewhere for my desk for work with 2/3 monitors in use at a time, so big one is used for work and own use.

I'm looking for storage options and was thinking shelving, but can't be too high over desk as I won't be able to reach. Need space for CDs too, although about 30% of collection is in zipped folders without the original cases. Talking about 250-275 CDs

No worries about the mess totally understand! Sounds like a lovely Victorian space with good bones. For storage, low shelving or a sideboard near the desk could work well for your CDs and keep things within easy reach. Wall-mounted shelves above the desk are fine as long as they’re not too high. Maybe use the space under the existing shelves by the fireplace too. For the CDs in folders, a drawer unit or small cabinet could help keep things tidy.
