What are the internal measurements (depth) of the space that juts out top right of the kitchen? i’m assuming you could put the utility there and lose the current utility walls making that whole space a kitchen diner with island. The space to the right of the lounge diner becomes a play area. Maybe move the door to the bay end to include tall storage at the existing door end

Keep the play room as you wanted in the top right hand room.

Add door between the kitchen and the utility so you don't have to run around to get from one to the other too much.

Middle '?' set up as a dining area if the space allows. A round table would look great in there.

Third '?' create as a cosy alcove with a bench or a sofa. Or perhaps two armchairs and a bar area?

Thank you for the suggestions on this, I like the idea of having a separate lounge and a utility, and the idea of the sliding doors. But I am no entirely set on having to walk through the utility into the open plan space i.e. kitchen. I have sketch below some alternatives and open to suggestions

That good option too, consider how much seater or armchair you want in living room to know how big you need and rearrange furniture before start renovation

If you like this new layout then you have option

1. to have bench dining table on the right corner with storage underneath and maybe place for mini piano on the left side of the wall or for anything else

2.Long rectangular 6-8 seater dining

3.circular dining table with reading nook on the right or bar? Personally I placed aquarium on space like this looking at fish good for psychology or maybe another TV to be able eat breakfast and watch news

Having a door between the kitchen and utility is not so that everyone goes to the kitchen through there. It's for the access when you need it.

For example when you come home with big gracery shopping; you would access the house through the side door to utility and into the kitchen.

If the utility doubles up as a pantry - even better - your can leave some of your shopping there! :)

My utility has door to outside and the kitchen. It's part loundry room, part storage, part boot room when I need it to be.

It's a must-have if you have a dog or a cat!

It's just something to think about before you finalise your plans.

Thanks for this, we have no pets and not planning to have any in the future.

I get your point about the grocery and gaining easy access via the hallway into the utility/kitchen.

We are looking to block off the side door to the outside as we hardly ever use this door, as we most likely use the bi folds to the garden

We want to try maximise the space in the utility hence not having a door between the hall and utility, I guess we will need to see how to make use of the space before we can commit to having a door there or not
