How about making fake wardrobe wall and only existing wardrobe can be opened

Or use Wood panel that one slat can be opened (the one which wardrobe placed)

Add LED to make it more luxurious and not feels like dark cluttered storage, if you use wooden panel outside, it best to use wood texture inside the wardrobe too

I was thinking of building a Wardrobe on the other side of my room and potentially opening this cupboard up but unsure what to do really

It was possibly for linen storage originally so you could add shelves and use it for bedding, quilts and pillows. But if you need it for hanging storage then just have a good clear-out then keep handbags or shoes under your hanging clothes.

Use Wood panel then it can be used as the backrest of bed or placed a table, chair etc alongside this wall but you can still access this original wardrobe if needed

Even if you have another cupboard in other side people who don't know Will only think this as accent wall on your bedroom, a perfect spot to hide belongings, many design option too

You could remove the door and architrave and make it storage for display or books (obviously decreasing the depth)

Or build a low faux wall for the bed like the 2nd image, then panel above the top in fluted wood etc and have a secret door to storage. I can’t find an image but it shouldn’t be too difficult

I have a chimney breast that sticks out which is where my bed will be but your thought is similar to mine I’m thinking reducing depth and building shelves and adding some LED lighting to them to brighten it up a bit it’s just built in an awkward area

Could you add pics of all the walls please? Could the wardrobes go on the chimney breast or can you not lose that extra storage?

We had similar storage in our ensuite bathroom, it's above the stairs, isn't it?

We opened it up, making two big "steps" and put in a cupboard at the top. The space below now has a box for detergents and a laundry bag. The bathroom now seems twice as big! And it's not a dumping ground. I can send you pictures later, if interested!

I had a similar over stairs cupboard in a previous house. I removed the door (which I think looks weird at that height) and hung a curtain instead. I fitted mine with shelves for bulky items.

I have a deep over-stairs cupboard in what’s now my study. it never worked as a wardrobe because it was far too deep though I put some storage on the inside of the door. Now there are two, two-drawer filing cabinets in there with a surface above it which makes a lovely little work area with less deep shelves above it. I appreciate that your space seems narrower. But rather than blocking off space, might deep drawers be the way to go? And above, perhaps shelves with large plastic boxes which could store winter/summer duvets or other not-heavy stuff (like empty suitcases) so you could just lift them down when needed?
