I love the tall units but you need to go straight to the ceiling to prevent dust and dirt settling on the top. I would put a row of small up and over cupboards along the very top as an option. Very handy for unsightly bulky items. I don't like the end open shelves by sink very dated but what you could do is a long double shelf all the way along the island with a wine racking either side for balance vertically. I think shelving each side of the sink would be better. You have a lot of cupboards but no deep drawers which are highly valued these days. Good selling point. I Like your colour suggestions... The little Greene paint company have a lovely grey so does farrow and ball. Where are you sourcing your Quartz and what flooring? Do your ovens have easy open shelf doors ..handy as they retract so don't get in the way as you take food out..Neff offer best ones. If you want a better balance of tall you could always do fridge freezer one side and pull out pantry on the other with racking. Then on sink side don't go all the way along the wall just have it as centred space so you can pull out larder doors. On your island you will need your bin as this'll be prep area? What is the room opposite tall cupboards? Need the island to look good from that side as that is what you will see. Hope of help. complete design of space including pantry and cloakroom

Hi, My new kitchen will have a very large window on one wall with very little space either side. This is facing the front of the house so I would prefer not to put anything on this wall. As it is open plan it leaves me with two opposing walls for the kitchen layout. Any ideas as to how I should do this?

Hello. We are tying ourselves up in knots. We are looking to add a bathroom, larger utility and kitchen space with a modest 18sqm extension. Our budget is tight... about 80K. Currently, the best plan (we think) is to embrace our already galley-type kitchen design but make it more formal. Currently, the kitchen is 3.8m (w) and 5m (l) with a wall kitchen on one side with 2 gable ends containing a combi oven on one end and a fridge/freezer on the other with 5 zone induction hob, sink and dishwasher. On the other side, we have open shelving that we use for jars, fruit/veg and some delph etc. Split down the middle is a 2m x .9m table with 6 chairs. The kitchen opens to the patio at the end via a french door and directly opposite we have an opening of the same size into a living room of about the same size as the kitchen. The space is good but with a growing family we need more. We cook a lot and do a fair bit of entertaining so we need 2 full ovens, a full fridge and a full freezer and a lot more countertop for prep and serving food. Our idea is to widen the kitchen by 70cm bringing it to 4.5m and putting in full-height cabinets to house the 2 ovens, the fridge and the freezer. Beside each of these banks we are putting in 2 x 80cm larder units with the one beside the ovens containing a countertop as a small set-down space for roasting etc. A set of magic doors open to the utility space and new bathroom. As we have moved the oven and fridge/freezer we would have a counter run of 5m giving us that all important work area. We are happy with this but are conflicted as the dining table will still be in the middle of the space. Above this we are looking to put in a rooflight 3m x .9m to mirror the table and bring more light into the kitchen. We like this in one way... for people to be really part of the bustle but there is another argument to have the dining separate. So we have been looking at other ideas which I also attach. Any advice, feedback etc. welcome.
