What are the full dimensions of the room?

Consider knocking the kitchen into the lounge in order to have a better lounge in the extension

Dimensions: 634cm length total. 400cm wide in extension dining area. Kitchen wider than extension width at 443cm.

Current island size is 1 x 2m.

1.8 x 0.9m island (needs a smaller sofa)

Just a thought, could you make acces to under stair storage from the sitting room and use it for coats. You could then remove the door from under stairs into kitchen and take units up to that wall?

I have a small but very functional kitchen of a similar size with a peninsular noy an island. The hob is on the back wall with an extractor out, and the peninsular includes a fridge and freezer on the kitchen side, and more stage on the other side, so about 95 cms wide. The cupboard opposite is for a larder.

Feeling like the island is maybe the problem here - perhaps could either change to peninsular further back (just after sunk) or smaller square island rather than a full 2m island?

For the dining table would you consider banquette seating? It would allow for slightly more space between the table and the island. I would keep the cozy seating, be it a small sofa or a love seat. It is nice to have somewhere to relax when someone else cooks. The garage gives an opportunity for overflow storage if you need to tighten up on the size of the island.
