space saving stairs

Hi,
For a loft conversion, I’m looking for space saving stairs ideas that have been signed off by UK BC.
Because of our roof pitch, we can’t fit a staircase above the existing one due to the lack of head height. And I don’t want to install a dormer just for stairs.
I found this design concept which would be perfect for us. Only downside is that it’s not covered in Approved Document K, and so far I have not been able to find anybody who has a similar design and got it signed off.
I posted here several months ago but didn’t have the time to proceed back then.
Any new thoughts and ideas are greatly appreciated.

Comments (2)You could do a built in shelf under the stairs on the wall and put kids books and small toys on it. I would add a small wooden rocking chair so your little one can sit under there and read and play. A tiny area rug would work too....See Moreunder stair space
Comments (4)If it's done smartly, shelves and doors won't necessarily make the space feel closed in. You could have a built-in seating/platform with a couple of shelves above, or all shelves for different functions, maybe a small home office...? Or you could have a slim mirror (in the space between the door and top of stairs, and then just hooks for the little one(s) coats, rucksacks, etc. Or if you want storage, you could have cupboards recessed so they don't close off the front. Comments (4)Your bed is beautiful, rather than using colour, why not keep the existing curtains and enhance them and the bed by adding texture in the same neutral palette, perhaps adding texture through a grass cloth type wallpaper, which is not that overpowering could be used on all the walls, adding a rug, and one or two big fluffy cushions and a throw. Further down the line I would balance the size of the bed with as big a locker I could fit either side of the bed, and a bench/ottoman at the end. Have seen many lovely reading nooks/ bench ideas but our problem is there is no ‘end wall’ to join a bench on to as there is a door into the kitchen area. Think it would look strange to come out of the kitchen and have a low bench area protruding out but maybe it wouldn’t 🤷🏻♀️ Have a console table on the other side of the hall so reluctant to put anything like that in the space.
