We have had an AEG gas hob fitted into a Quartz work top and have a quartz splash back. We only have 18mm from the back of the gas hob to the facing wall …is this okay ?
It’s the burner that’s important on a gas hob as the heat is fierce. Normally it says in your hob instruction pack. As a rough guide around 150mm from back wall to the rear burner.
Its often not possible to place a 515mm deep hob in a 600 deep worktop with anything other than a small gap behind, especially if the splashback takes up 20mm too. Hob manufacturers suggest a 50mm gap- its not always possible. Bare in mind that extreme heat could potentially crack the splashback but many people have the same set up as you without any problem
