Hi everyone,
We’re considering this detached flint-and-brick house and would love some honest opinions on its kerb appeal.
Do you find this style charming and timeless, or does it feel dated/busy?
What small changes (e.g., door colour, landscaping, lighting) could enhance its appearance without losing character?
We’re particularly keen to hear first impressions — sometimes these traditional styles divide opinion, so all views are welcome.

Thanks so much for your thoughts!

It looks nice. When was it built?

It was built in circa 1910

I'm not keen on small window panes, so replacing them with single panes would be more modern.

I very much like it. I think plain contemporary windows will ruin the cottage feel but I think they could stand some more colour and like Sonia I like French greys and greens with this colour brick.

If you want to put your stamp on it you could upgrade the porch to something similar but bigger and more substantial

Ps. You sure it wasn’t built 15 years ago rather than 115 years ago? The cloakroom window and the nearby garage make it look modern

Like Jonathan, it is really giving me vibes of a modern house built in the local vernacular style?!

This is part of our house, built in a Norfolk village around 30 years ago

Regardless of its age, I think it definitely has kerb appeal but surely, and more importantly, it has to suit your needs both internally and in the right location before you should consider buying it?

Looks pastiche to me but all of a piece. Not my preferred style.
