Hi all,
A few months ago, I posted a poll about draft layouts for a loft conversion in our Victorian terraced home in London. Thanks to those who responded – your input was appreciated.
The initial designs for discussion didn’t fully account for permitted development rules, so we’ve since refined them, factoring in volume limits, stair dimensions and other constraints.
We’ve now submitted our plans and wanted to share the submitted version, as some of the feedback here helped shape our thinking. The aim was to balance functionality, natural light, future proofing and to avoid red flags.
Quick context:
- Victorian terrace with approx. 4.25m outrigger
- Loft height: 2.2m at centre
- Household: 2 adults, 3 daughters and a newborn son
- Plan for loft: 2 loft bedrooms + 1 bathroom
- Existing first floor: 2.5 bedrooms + 1 bathroom
Would love your thoughts on:
- Is it a good use of space?
- Any tweaks before we build?
- Any resale red flags?
- Anything you’d do differently?
Thanks again – looking forward to any feedback you’re happy to share.
