Colour recommendations!
I'm buying new chair covers as these are flaking. Thinking of velvet...any suggestions for what colour? It's a small lounge/dining room. Sofa is light grey (pic isn't great lighting), bookshelves are oak wood and sideboard is dark grey. I'd say the current chairs in the pic are accurate - light grey is the couch colour, dark grey is the sideboard colour. I think this time round I'll go for all the same colour chairs, but not sure if I should stick with a grey (light or dark?) or bring in a colour (navy?). Any advice appreciated!

Comments (11)This might sound a bit like being on the fence given the advice you've had already... How about a mid to dark grey ( less contrast than black), RAL 7022 is a favourite of mine (warmer grey), or look at a green grey, as something that will have the colour of the olive, with a good amount of contrast against the white render, (you won't have the warm rich colours of the brickwork as in the photos above (which the olive looks good against)). If you are painting the timber windows you would do well to look at microporous opaque stains to reduce your on-going maintenance. Comments (0)Need to change the front door on our house, 1939 semi d. Any thoughts / suggestions on colour or type of doors? I've mocked up a solid wood effect composite, seemingly all new door companies recommend using handles (better lock mechanisms). The finger pull door lock mechanisms can get stuck. I'm not mad on the handle but. I've attached pictures of the house, close up of the door (ignore the decorations!) and the mock up of the door / colour. 8 months agoI’ve just ordered a sofa in a gorgeous charcoal grey velvet, and as Sarah says grey is considered a neutral. I think navy is still very popular and a lovely mossy green looks so inviting. None of these below are my sofa but it does reflect the lovely colours that are soft and neutral’ish.
