Can't decide on furniture! Please help!!
Comments (27)No, ask away :-) I'm not a pro though, just kind of passionate about design and interiors and all that :-) Great cabinet. I'm really not opposed to mixing metals. You'll get a more eclectic mix. It is the result of going with what you love and not with what you think goes with something else. And that will give your interior your own personal style. Matter of taste. Some people really don't like it. Others do :-) Go for a fairly large coffee table. I would think at least 100 cm wide. Tape (news) paper together to the size of the coffee table you like and lay that on the floor. It will give you an idea about the scale in your room. You need it to be easily reachable from the sofas, since you have these high armrests. And your room can take a large table. If you can't find a large one you like, you can also think about putting together 4 smaller square ones for example. The one with the metal base (I took two from the Soul Lifestyle site) is on the smallish side. The black one is larger. Round fits nicely with the shape of your sofas. Not sure if I mocked up the sizes correctly, but I think the lovely side table is too small. The lamp is about 70 cm tall (again, I guestimated the size), but it does look small on that low table. Maybe it's taller in real life than in the mock up? Mixed metals in a room...See MoreNeed help with furniture layout & colours to cosy up this space
Comments (2)If you have space, another couch of a complimentary colour to your couch with its back facing the dining room (or an occasional chair there on an angle) would be good. A large rug to tie together the seating and a coloured wall where the existing couch is (be it paint or wall paper or a large artwork) would help make it cosy....See MoreHelp! how should I arrange my living room furniture?
Comments (0)I'd love some advice on how to arrange my living room furniture, starting with a completely blank canvas. The room will be used as a child-free retreat, mainly in the evenings for reading, watching movies and some entertaining. The window faces south east so it is bright during the day and looks over the front garden. We will probably get built ins around the fireplace to store books. I am thinking about getting a corner sofa oriented towards the tv on the right side of the fireplace but I am worried then that the wall opposite the window will just be blank. I'd like to put a chair there too but when you are entering the room I think it will appear to stick out a lot. What could I put on that wall? Could I orient the room the opposite way by putting the tv on the left of the fireplace or would that feel strange entering the room between couches? Would it be better if the door opened the opposite way? What size should the sofa be, given the room is 4.1x4.2m? I have attached a diagram of the room layout and what I am thinking currently. Any suggestions welcome! Thank you!...See MoreHelp with our new build plan layout
Comments (2)I think introducing an angled wall will not give you anything other than something a bit different. We have this in our house and it is difficult re positioning of furniture etc. You are also limiting what you can do it the kitchen, ie removing a wall of presses or increasing the cost of having custom made to fit! You have lots of space so I would leave that as it is. I dont know if you have kids, but think about how you will use this open plan space as they get older and you need more privacy! In relation to upstairs I like the idea of the Jack and jill but prefer the layout of the master bedrooms in the original. That is a really big dressing room compared to the size of the bedroom, but if this is what you wanted go for it!...See More- 5 months ago
