Hi, I’d love your opinion on a garden project. We have a sloped garden, and instead of leveling it completely, we chose to install decking. It’s been going well so far, but due to the slope, one side of the decking sits much lower into the ground — almost sunken in.

Now we're left with two options:

Cut and reshape the land: The builder will dig out the higher side to match the slope down toward the wall, but that would make the rest of the garden more noticeably sloped.
Install raised beds in an L-shape: This would avoid making the garden more sloped and could help integrate the sunken side of the decking more naturally into the design.
I'm leaning toward the raised beds, but I’m not sure — would they look good in that space?

You don't need raised beds where you've highlighted, but would make sense where the decking is above the ground.

What are you're plans for the rest if the garden? The decking looks odd in isolation right in the corner. Plants are definitely needed.

I was thinking of adding raised bed to the right corner of the wall as keep planters nearer the fence but now because of slope landscape guy has suggested to put raised bed in the L shaped as I have highlighted in the pictures

Wow, I really like this design and the rest of the house....really has a lovely flow to it and is very bright. My only concern with opening up the original living room to the hallway would be that the existing house is poorly insulated and would leave the front room cold during the winter. I imagine the existing front room as a dynamic room in that the doors to the dining room can be closed, a stove fire turned on and it would be a quiet reading/relaxing zone in the house. Though I must admit...the above example provided is really tempting. thanks Dytecture!

You can read them here. http://www.houseplanshelper.com/free-floor-plan-software.html Just FYI most software programs have an app where you can view your projects but I can't remember seeing one where you can actually work on your designs on your iPad Hope this helps Meg.

An outdoor cinema. Just a sheet or roll up blind to project movies onto possibly from an add on device to the iPad, but with comfy rows of seating for it incorporated into the garden's design with some kind of shelter involved above the seating even if it's just a retractable awning. In my dreams there would also be a garden sound system but my blu tooth speaker would probably do.

Raised beds near a seating/dining area is perfect for interest and scents and if you are careful not too plant too densely it shouldn't shorten the garden visually and you will still see the children playing,(you could perhaps even extend the raised bed right across and have a step down on the left or centrally).

You could plant climbing roses and clematis trained around the walls so think about some supports and underplant with herbs or salvias, a packet of cosmos seeds look amazing swaying in the breeze, some solar lights pegged in amongst that you can switch on and off, or on a timer for a few hours …

If planting beds are too daunting then you could build up bench seating with sleepers?

I am thinking to add something like this in the L shaped area. I have highlighted in one my pictures. So shall I go with raised bed idea?
