I think your colors are restful so I would work with those and not pop a color. Maybe some interesting artwork that had some color in it, but I think you should go for a more elegant calm look. By the way, I like the chandelier you have with the fireplace. I think I would paint the lower part of your wall the same blue as is in the top part. Then I would add some black accents in glass and lamps. Curtains that have a sheen or gold thread would be nice.

You can paint the inside of FP opening charcoal and then I would go for a blue/grey and not greige. Those colors tend to be very dark. You have black furnishings and a blue/grey would look very fresh. Your art above FP has blue in it, so replace rug and get some pillows for sofa that will bring in the colors of the painting. Why not just put in some shelves, one big enough to hold tv. That would give a more open concept to room. If you need one enclosed to store components, that would fit also. I would not build up too high on the wall.

I think it looks very nice! It is lovely fireplace and room. These are just thoughts because I actually really like what you have done so far. Just my opinion. ... 1) Would you think about hanging the mirror above the fireplace, about 6 inches and horizontally? You could dress the mantel then with a few items to the side (eg. tall vase, etc) 2) You could add some funky cushions to your sofa with some strong tones, picking up on the browns and greys (don't match but just use lighter or darker tones or brown or grey) or even add another colour. I just see you have red light pendant, maybe you could mix and match. 3) Will you be adding rug? Again you could bring out some colours using a rug. 4) Something about the shelving looks like it needs adjusting. Are the shelves adjustable? In which case can you adjust so they are not all even size shelving? Try adjusting the items - something looks out of balance. Maybe try books on their sides (some but not all) and moving items into groups of similar colour/ theme. Good luck - Im sure you will get lots of ideas from the community..

Hi Orla. I've looked at your ideabook and assume you're happy to stick with the monotone look? I'd look at papering the ŵall behind the bed in Cole and son library panel wallpaper in midnight (pic will follow but it would also look good in a light shade!). The rest of the walls I'd do in a pale but warm grey. Which way does the room face in terms of lights? Go for black bedside cabinets but maybe something with curved lines or round handles against the bed. Either glass bedside lamps with white shades or in a warm metal or pendants hung low over the bedsides, Stick to white bed linen but add a charcoal throw with lots of texture. Choose cushions with different texture and patterns from White through to charcoal. Depending on what flooring you have you could also add a grey textured rug under the bed. I'd go for plain pale-mid grey curtains. If you have the space/budget a patterned black/grey and white chair would look great. I think the key thing is texture for interest so maybe also a large antiqued mirror, a chandelier with a silk drum shade, white flowers etc.
