For me the tv is far too high. I would move it to either alcove on the side at eye level for watching. It's obviously a playroom so do you need a tv there? If you cleared out the alcoves and put some shelves across that would also create a tidier focal point. Toys could be contained in matching baskets and still be accessible.

It used to be in the alcove but the tv was too big so had to go on the side wall on an angle, you can still see the raw plugs. We didnt like it there, it was the same height though, that height works for us as we are sat so far back. Its our living room but without toys we would never have peace from the kids. We are hoping to tidy them up once we sort out the fire and tv as that fire is coming out so we will be left with a hole there. But thank you for the suggestions.

Do you still want to keep a gas fire at all then? Is the chimney breast supporting anything above or is it just wood and plaster board? If you want to keep a gas fire and you are able to rebuild chimney breast entirely you could consider a long low gas fire, tv above and then built in shelves and cupboards on either side for storage. I will post some pics.

Thank you. yes we need to keep the gas fire as we frequently get power cuts in the winter and it gets cold quick. i like the second one but our door into the room is where the tv is. whats there already is just plasterboard so i think the first picture makes the most sense. Thank you 😀
