help with paint colour

It’s not finished painting as only had one coat but I’m having immediate regrets on the green colour. My husband told me to finish it and live with it for a bit but I don’t think I can be bothered as I really dislike it but I don’t know why and what the best alternative would be? Any advice would be appreciated.
The paint itself is velvety and goes on great but I hate the tone of green even though it matches the green in the paper. Is it too light?
It’s too apple for me! Feeling very annoyed with myself as I had doubts before I put it on. I’m thinking navy or a putty colour? The paint range I’m using is French chic ‘al fresco’ and the green I used is called wise old sage.

UPDATE. Thank you all so much for your advice and suggestions. I have finished my toilet and went for farrow and ball Inchyra blue which does look a little green but goes really well with the background. Not an exact match but I am so happy with it now.

Navy would look very sophisticated but would emphasize the loo and basin. Do you like the style of them enough for them to stand out? With a choice between Navy and Putty I would choose the Navy everytime. I disagree with your husband. I have painted rooms, hated the colour once on the walls and repainted as quickly as possible. Anything Lilac or hints thereof are a step too far for me. What colour is the floor and what material is it? You are definietly on the right track pulling colours out of the wallpaper for the paint colour. I'm not keen on the green either and I don't think another coat is the answer here. I'm with you on this one.

I actually quite like it so before you consider changing the colour, try adding towels, some small plants on the window sill and a belly basket for loo rolls. Then if you really don’t like it I think you should get a sample pot in the dark background colour of your wallpaper to try. What colour is the background? If it is navy you could then have navy towels and plant pots to match. Your floor tiles look beige so it should be compatible. Would you consider painting your radiator the same as your wall colour? Is that a hook with the beach sign, is it needed?

I can help find this for you in the morning if you haven't already. If you have photoshop, you can grab the RGB value of the color and then plug it into easyrgb.com for the closest colors to that value. I use it all the time for my work. As someone else mentioned though, this can only be used as a guideline. With light casting and shadows, it would be hard to find the exact match

Sorry I overlooked your question about the island. I don't know if it should be a contrasting colour because as I see it, the main feature of your kitchen is the gorgeous range. If you paint the island to match it, then the range will lose its impact. If it were my kitchen, I'd match the island to the other cabinets. If you were starting over, you could have had it made in stained wood, but with it already existing it requires a painted finish.

Agree Isla, I can’t grow to like it, it’s been 24 hours and I cringe every time! I don’t have any budget for changing the loo and sink so good point I will have to factor that in for the navy. (my kitchen renovation starts tomorrow and I can barely afford that as it is!) so anything in that loo is me doing it.

Betty you are right in me needing to put the finishing touches in but I don’t want to yet with me not liking the colour. The hook is somehow attached to the wall as it’s Victorian house and it is solid and can’t be moved so will paint that too.
Sarah, I’m going to think about that colour as initially I like it but wonder if I’d have similar regrets as I think the bottom should be darker but I would never have looked at that so thank you for putting it on my radar

Perhaps you feel that it’s ‘top heavy’ with a lighter colour below your wallpaper? If that’s the case then the darkest colour from the wallpaper will balance it out. But I’d definitely get a sample pot colour matched to your paper and try it on a painted piece of card first. I’ll try and think of something you can hang on that hook instead of the sign…….

Have you tried unscrewing the sticky out part of the hook although it may have been painted over many times.

That hook is solid metal, there are a few about the house mainly on the fireplace walls. The other houses on my road have them too. Yes I think the look is focused on the bottom rather than the wallpaper which I adore. I do need to use card first to check before making another paint error. Is there an app that can show me the bottom in navy, or dark green to visualise it? I see people doing that on here but am pretty clueless myself

I love the sage green, but I do agree you need a darker shade on the panelling to help carry the lovely wallpaper. Navy would look stunning. So you like the Frenchic paint? People rave about it but I’ve never used it.

Definitely too light of a green- it goes kind is minty and it doesn't balance the dark value of the wallpaper. Try one of the darker colors in the wallpaper, or match the overall value (lightness or darkness) of the wallpaper. (You can see value more easily if you squint your eyes.)

This is a dark blue but not navy. I can’t decide if this colour is too light or ok? I painted a consol table and it looked like it could work for my tiles, but I can’t visualise it.

To take the guesswork out of the equation you simply need to take your wallpaper sample to a B&Q store and have a paint sample matched to the background of your paper.

Going blue is better, but that blue will leave you blue as it is just a shade or two out. The color matching route will provide the right blue for you.
