Bedrooms Design Dilemma

advice on new room layout

Hi me and my sister used to share a room but we had a fake wall type thing in the middle to separate us,she is now moving out into another room and I was wondering whether or not to keep the wall and what to do with the space,also if I should keep the wallpaper I have in my side of the room and put it onto the other side of if I should get something diffrent.i am keeping the same bed but I'm getting a new vanity(a shelf one with drawers).any tips would be appreciated(sorry for the mess)

If you can afford it as I don't know if the wall contains electrics or a radiator I would definitely take it down. It's quite compact. Just remember that there might be a lot of making good. Does the floor run under the wall? You will still have to patch and paint the ceiling though and the wall that it joins. You won't know what to do with all the space you have now and the light will improve. Change the wallpaper to one that you like.

It’s a good idea to remove the wall and redecorate to your taste. It will be a good bit of work and will cost you in paint and elbow grease but it will be worth it to make it your own. Good luck with it.

Hi, We have bought a new house and can't decide on the layout of the sitting room and was looking for some help. There is an electric fireplace integrated into the middle of the center wall and two alcoves on either side. I don't want to mount the TV above the fireplace as it will be too high so am wondering what is the best room layout and TV position. There is also a bay window at the front. We are planning on getting an L shaped couch as well. I have included the floor plans below. Any advice would be a great help!

Hi Rebecca, Congratulations on your new home. I have quickly sketched out the floor plan of your room in 2D and 3D. For the first option I placed the 2 seater in the window alcove, however I dont know the height of the window so this may not work if it is a large window as you dont want the furniture to obscure the window. Hi Keera, I suggest removing the wall to give you more space. The wallpaper is quite a lot for the area, it makes it feel cluttered - perhaps removing the wallpaper once the wall is down and giving it fresh paint in a neutral colour. Neutrals are nice because you can build on them with accent colours throughout the space with decor items/throws/ pillows if you want pops of colour or to carry one particular colour throughout the room. You can then get a nice rug under the bed and a decent-sized vanity you want!
