Living room layout

Unsure how best to approach my living room space. It's a reasonable size but I do have quite big furniture pieces. The fireplace, chest, desk (beauru)and bookcase are the items I don't wish to part with. But considering doing a media wall but unsure if it will work or not. The first two pics show the current layout (l-shape sofa). The fireplace, bookcase and desk will basically stay where they are unless there are alternative ways I haven't considered of course.

What type of fireplace do you have? Could it be incorporated into a media wall? Looks odd with the fireplace behind the sofa. Pics please.

I would make the fire place the focal point and position the furniture around it. It will give the area more structure. The coffee table can go infront of the fireplace and the bookcase can go against a wall that accomodates it's size. I would suggest trying a few options out, sitting with it for a couple of days and going from there. I do agree that the fireplace shouldn't be behind a sofa, so try and incorporate that into the space.

Put the tv in front of the rear windows. Put the 2 seater in the middle of the room facing tv near fireplace. Coffee table between tv and two seater. leave the 3 seater on the same wall but closer to pianos current position. Put piano in suggested position. As for the bay windows a nice small round table with two chairs. A place to sit and have a drink and listen to music and look out the window...adds intimacy.

Hi, I'm trying to rearrange my living room but having a bit of difficulty. The room has 3 doors in it (1 hall door, 1 kitchen door & 1 door for under the stairs). There's also a fireplace and then one large window. I'm trying to create space for while already having the likes of our tv, 2 & 3 seater sofas so to have the room prepared for when Christmas rolls around! It depends on your situation. The best media walls are built in and bespoke. That is a large investment to make in a home. You could achieve something similar with shelving and a low media unit the whole way across the wall. Furniture placed at 45 deg always looks odd to me. I would turn it so that its parallel to the wall and place the chair behind it if you use it like that? If you have a media wall could the bookcase go in another room or on the landing? The sofa needs turning too, it's blocking the door and the fireplace. Decide whether the fireplace or the tv is going to be your focal point and set it out from there.
