Exterior window colour

We’ve just brought this house to renovate and extend and we’re struggling to decide what colour to replace the windows and doors. They’re old wooden windows so we cannot spray them.

Also if anyone has any design ideas to spruce up the front. My husband wants to render (he’s a plasterer) but I’m not keen 🥴.

The only thing with rendering is it is more maintenance, but the brick looks nice so a window colour change may make a huge difference. You really can’t go wrong with white. It will lift the whole scheme. You could then paint the front door and garages any colour you like. It looks like an 80s/90s house when those brown windows were very popular. If you don’t fancy white then a soft pale grey would also look good. I’d avoid anything too dark as it can look dingy against the red brick. However if you decide to render the house in a light colour then dark window frames can look really good.

I would go for a stone colour so not too dissimilar to what you've got. Little Greene does a good stone colour too but will work out a bit expensive. This is Oxford stone by farrow and ball. If you were doing the windows and front door then maybe an old white with door and windows in french grey

Hi, We’re changing windows and fascias/soffets in an upcoming renovation. We’re also taking out the cement shingles on the second floor and insulating behind and replacing with horizontal cedar wood. Really liking grey windows but cannot decide what grey, anthracite or a lighter grey? Do I get matching fascias etc? Should I paint the cedar wood a colour or just stain it? Will I get longer out of it if we paint? Any advise welcome 🙏

MCM ranch exterior colors to complement cherokee red brick?

We are updating the exterior of our home (which is a MCM california ranch). We will not be painting the cherokee red brick and the roof will be replaced with dark gray/black. Currently, we have white windows, but they all need to be replaced. Would dark windows look right? We like the idea of a medium gray color incorporated somewhere as an accent, but not sure what should go where. Our facia/soffit and garage doors will be replaced along with this reno. I've painted the old windows an iron ore to have a visual. I'd appreciate any insights. Thank you in advance! Current street view-- Here is the current white window trim/overhang-- With the iron ore window trim...will this look too trendy? Would it look weird to have black window with white brick molding around them? (Or vice versa)

Thank you that’s a great help. I definitely agree that the dark colours would look dingy. We hadn’t thought of soft grey so thank you for the idea. The image you’ve done is fab too. We’re going to converting half of the double garage so that’s given me an insight into what it would potentially look like
