Exterior of Mill house - woodwork colour advice needed

We need some advice. Here we have an 1835 Mill house, which has golden oak upvc windows (brand new, so not going to replace)
Thr wrought iron railings, exterior wood front canopy, and doors including garage doors need painting or staining before winter. Any advice on pulling all these colours together to look a bit more complimentary? The brickwork is pale on the mill. Roof tiles are reddish!!

I would use black on the balcony to freshen it up. The garage doors are a lovely weathered shade, could you just stain them with something clear like yacht varnish? They look like wood. Tbe double glass door under the canopy with the Y supports does not blend with the other frames. The two sets of double doors are very different in appearance. Painting them the same would unify the space somewhat althought they are completely different styles. Another option is a colour like Mizzle from Farrow and Ball which is a soft green with a touch of grey. I would be wary of too many colours as you already have the style difference.

I'd stain the garage doors a golden oak colour, and paint the railings black. Stain/paint the garage cladding and door canopy in the same colour. Pale neutrals like white or grey go well with golden oak. Will the balcony doors be replaced to match the new ones underneath?

I built a lot of homes and many renovations. The vast majority has been white windows inside and out. We built homes with black exterior which look very good. We also had homes with stained wood and wood vinyl on the interior. I got to say the window looses its presence this way. It kind of blends in too much and looks bland. Many other customers have agreed with this.

Window shopping and lots of online browsing.! .haven't purchased anything yet!. Just getting house back in order after painting! I have put back the red/winey curtains that I previously had up...convinces me more to go with a neutral colour. The walls are rich Taupe but with a slight grey hue off them so I think the bottom left above actually might work. I have bedding very similar so I took them out and held up and think it would look very nice. Purple isn't a theme in my house (although I do have one bedroom painted purple/lilac) My sitting room is white red black and silver and living/kitchen room is tan and red. I want a rug that wont show up the dirt that much...I live in the country side and have lots of dirty feet coming in so I cant go for any rug that is too light in colour

Hi, I think that you could give this house a smart contemporary look with the grey windows that you suggested. I would break each window up into two or three panels though, this would give each panel a more elegant vertical emphasis. A timber front door is always nice though, the image above shows one of our houses with a similar hip-roofed style and grey frames (the windows here are openable too). It is good to match the window frame colour to the gutters and/or eaves fascia & soffit. In this house we had an iroko timber door and eaves which brings a warm high quality feel to the house. Charcoal black for the steel (balcony). Lead grey (stain) for the wood cladding and canopy. Golden oak for garage doors (as in transparent protective layer). And if possible, replace those balcony doors to pvc, as it won't be easy to colormatch these. If replacing is not an option yet, find a solid rusty orange/red that goes well with the golden oak.

I did an image search for mills, but i'm dutch and over here they use oxblood, forest green and cream for the paintwork, which goes well with red brick. Yours isn't. Love the charm of a mill house, by the way!
