Kids room wallpaper Help!

Hi all!

We are thinking of updating the decorations in our kids rooms.

I'm thinking wallpaper or mural..

Are there any brands you would recommend?

We are looking for something Scandinavian or neutral style, not too childish ones.

Any help appreciated!

I absolutely love a mountain scene for a children’s bedroom. Dead easy to do yourself, just need some beige, grey or green paint and some blue paint for the sky, and some masking tape of course! First picture was done with Dulux paint. If that’s too much effort Etsy have some fab wall stickers for children’s rooms. For your little girl I rather like the second pic where pink is used in a more subdued way with green. Do have a look on Pinterest where there are tons of great ideas.

Our daughter is 5 years old, and our son is 8 years old.

luckily they don't have that much strong opinions about decoration but our son loves animals.

Is the chandelier thing seeming a bit small for the room or is it just me? Given that your walls are plain, the sofa is plain how about a patterned rug? Do you like Persian rugs? I find that dark green wainscotting too heavy and would paint it a lighter color. Given you have just moved in I assume you are planning to be there a while. If you like traditional style do you want a fairly safe color scheme re walls and curtains, keeping future resale in mind. Or are u happy to decorate according to your tastes? The mirror seems a bit small to me.

Sorry, yes, I didn't explain very well, did I... I meant that as your room seems to be quite light, floor included, a dark grey that matches the bird on your wallpaper would give you that wow factor (pic1 below). You could then work on the layering textures within the same colour palette too with the rest of your accessories (rugs, mirrors etc). Or if you're not too keen on greys, pick out one of the other colours if you prefer- you have a good selection of pink, blue, green or yellow. As long as you match the exact shade you can't go wrong, in my humble opinion. I've attached a few pics below to show you what I mean xx

Sinead, I'm not too sure what colour you're going for on main walls...? will your selves be white? black/charcoal would have impact here so keep all walls same colour! What storage do you have in the room? You could have bench/box seat in same colour as shelves and fabric on top in complimentary colour (e.g., same as cushions!) on RHS with picture over it!! In my house they were traditionally called "toy boxes"!

You might want to look at Sian Zeng. She does tree murals in muted shades. John Derian is also a bit different. What ages are your children and what are their personal interests? Does it have to last into their teenage years? The idea of painting a mountainscape is very clever if you could manage to do it yourselves. Youtube has great videos of that type of decor.

What are the walls width and height as murals can be quite dear? These can be bought in a standard size rather than M2M

Both of these may appeal at any age (or to to me anyway!)

I love Sian Zeng wallpapers; they have a very hand-painted feel to them, and a few children specific wallpapers. The Pure Edit are much cheaper and although don't have children's type of styles, the prints would look fantastic in a child's room. "Pondicherry" and "Odila" would be great as a feature wall with pale matching paint on the rest of the walls, and a full strength colour on the woodwork.

Thank you all! All of them look soooo nice..:)

I like the style of Sian Zeng too! very beautiful.

Murals are also good idea as it maybe easier to change in the future if the kids want to do it..

Really good to know these independent brands as I didn't want to buy them from major brands.
