Eaves storage ideas

I have recently had my attic converted and am trying to design storage for clothes in the eaves. Please see pictures. Dimensions: Height 210cm, but begins to slope at 22cm. Have about 130cm of usable floor space before the height is lost into the eaves. I need to create hanging space and drawers, and would be very grateful for any advice. Thank you.

It needs to be well finished then so I would definitely hire a carpenter. An experienced one will have done this type of work before so will have good suggestions. There is lots of inspiration on Houzz. Think about painting the doors the same colour as your walls unless you use an expensive wood veneer finish like oak, maple or walnut. Think about handles or knobs too with regard to the style and type of metal or whether you would prefer wooden ones painted the same colour as the doors. I would keep it subtle and you won't even really notice the storage.

I wouldn't do drawers. You can fit a long hanging rail in there behind doors (I've seen it done well before) and just do shelves behind a door or open if you are tidy. Drawers take up a lot more space. Is it a bedroom or just storage because that makes a big difference as to how you finish it. You just need a good carpenter unless you are good at DIY.

We fitted out a similar space using Ikea wardrobe fittings. It worked well but wasn’t especially glamorous.

In the above photo measure from ceiling down to where shelves are to placed. Do this at each corner. Depending on how your house settled this will ensure that the shelves parallel the ceiling. The shelves may not be "level" per say but will have that level look

To optimise storage for clothes in the eaves, consider units that follow the sloped ceiling. Perhaps opt for hanging space and place a shorter clothes rail parallel to the slope starting at the 22cm mark, which will allow for hanging shorter items like shirts or jackets. Below and beside this rail, incorporate drawers or shelves that fit within the remaining floor space and height constraints to maximise your storage capacity (if you really want drawers, otherwise just make it hanging space).

U can create a small dressing area, with a mirror and drawers and hangings from IKEA and shelfs as well.
