How to make best use of this space & storage
We decided to put a second bedroom/office now in the middle of the flat and keep the kitchen at the rear. So I have this space and I want to make the most of it in terms of storage or extra wc or walk in wardrobe etc.
The only thing that exists now is the bathroom (shower room) which is shown at the bottom (or the left depending on which pic you look at) of the larger dark grey bed. It's both en-suite and accessible from the hallway for guests.
And the bedroom off it with the weird shape is our current bedroom and the door for this is opposite the door on my 3d image (ie I have mocked it up with door moved to the bathroom side so we can get to the wc in the night faster than walking all the way around the hall!)
- so the rest of the space which I have mocked up as a single room and little storage area, hasn't been split yet. It will create a long corridor, but that will be around 1m wide so shouldn't feel too cramped. It's one of those things as we are a terraced flat which is really long and have just accepted it. Think some sensor lighting might help when walking through.
The room used to be a dining room but we now have a table in our front lounge (which is a large room) and then we will have dining at the kitchen rear for daytime. This is a dark room,
- my ideas were ...
1) as we already have a door going into that room from our bedroom, it could be a wardrobe which would make our bedroom feel more spacious (there is currently a larger built in wardrobe on our chimney and we only just have enough room to walk around the bed!) It's v cramped.
2) separate storage room from the hall which we really need as the property will have 3 holiday lets above so it would be handy to store linens and cleaning equipment in as we gave up the storage room upstairs to be part of a new flat.
3) second wc for guests and for the second bedroom. I would need to check with the plumber if this is even possible, but that's all we would fit in there.
As a two bed flat, what would you appreciate more?
Notes:-
-The angled wall is solid and the current bedroom door is far right on this wall.
-Our bathroom has all the bathrooms to the house over ie they are all in one place. There is a big shower on the left and the wc is nearer the hall door.
- the hallway is a solid structural wall so we don't want to be messing with this or putting doors in it.

Comments (17)Simplify is always a good strategy with play rooms. The temptation to cover the walls with artwork and posters can add to the visual clutter. I would suggest a larger area rug to ground the space and create a soft place for playing on the floor. A medium colour with a fleck from other hues in the curtains and upholstery will help hide dirt and lint. I think you could definitely cozy it up with a warm wall colour to unify the space. Comments (2)The way to get your own eyes on the issue is to start with a general clear out so you can really "see" your kitchen and "keeping" room. Box up and remove all the stuff - tops of cabs, counters, art on walls, fridge and floor clutter, photos, area rugs. Then dig into the cabs and the hutch and remove all the items you only use once or twice a year. Store those away from the kitchen so you gain more room in the cabs for items you regularly use. Is that a radiator on the wall by the TV? I'm thinking the hutch niche would make a great computer area with a built-in desk. Are there any other doors into this room and is this your only living room? What size is the window at the table? Are you up for more than rearranging things? Any construction you can do? Comments (16)sorry haven't been on here much and havent had time or money to much about my room but should be getting to work in the next few weeks/month. I've added some more photos to give a better idea of the layout of the room and the dimensions. the first one is a view from the bed or the foot of the bed, so you can see the wall space isn't massive. The horrible curtains are waiting to be changed when I get all the work done! The second photo is the other wall to show where the door to the room is. Carolyn the wardrobe in the photo there is the one I'm going to put in the nook and then I was thinking of getting a carpenter to build shelving on the wall where the wardrobe currently is. Around the bed then would be more storage and shelves either side to act as bedside tables. As anyone any ideas for the type of shelving I should be looking to get built? I would be looking to hold - clothes that wouldn't be hanging like jumpers, t-shirts etc. I would definitely need an area for books/magazines, an area for toiletries and maybe then storage for items such as bed linen, blankets and random items like chargers for phones, laptops etc....See MoreBest way to make use of space

Hi Puir & Co,
It's one flat all on one level. We have a large lounge diner at the front (far left) and an existing shower room (the main bathroom) Then our main bedroom (the one with the weird shaped bay) is all existing. Far right (not shown) is a kitchen and conservatory off. So this room is redundant and needs a good use.
The layout I've done is a mock up as it's currently just one large room which was a dining room. But you have to walk through it to get to the kitchen at the end so we want to separate it with a corridor and make a second bedroom/office as we really need the spare room and storage.

sorry yes, this is the new plan so approximate measurements . Where that N line is - that's just the one room. The kitchen we plan on having bifolds across the back so we can open it into the conservatory when we want to and also have seating at the peninsular during the day.

I would square off the master bedroom, which would probably make the storage and layout of that room easier.
In the hallway next to the kitchen, I would push back that wall, to create space for a big cupboard, ( how big you know what you need) for your storage needs.
That should leave enough space for the second bedroom.
But since I have no measurements, This is the best I can do to advise.
