Help with playroom, utility and downstairs shower room design

We are about to start building a double storey side extention which will house a small utility area, in which id like to add my washing machine, tumble dryer and boiler and have some small worktop space and this will lead onto a small shower room and then the rest will be garage. Weve also left the decoration of the kids (2&5) playroom, which is the large middle room until this is built as to the side there is currently a window which will be moved and replaced with a doorway into the utility.

can anyone help me with what designs etc would look good for these spaces. im stumped on the playroom. i have plenty of design inspo but just not aure how to implement that into my space. The utility and shower rooms are also small spaces so hoping to figure out how to best utilise the space. i like earthy colours either light or dark or a mix of both.

Hey, so the room that says living room will be the playroom.

Wish list is for plenty of good storage, floor space for the kids to play. nice bright fun place to be.

so i have a daughter who has just turned 3 and loves princesses, singing and anything pink and a nearly 5yr old son who loves learning facts, maths, writing, reading and most importantly drawing.

If you are going to do this - make sure the bedrooms have plenty of wardrobe space etc - don't scrimp ! Ideally every woman wants at least double the wardrobe space she already has !! And a walk-in wardrobe / dressing room is something that would earn any developer brownie points !! So if you have the space ... Use it well !! Breakfast areas in morning sunshine work well and evening sun in the lounge is good - inside outside fireplaces can work really well and everybody needs storage for summer /winter stuff (ski /scuba /suitcases etc ) so worth adding in storage somewhere accessible (like utility room ) for that sort of gear too ! This is an awesome opportunity for you ! Have fun !!!

Take out sofa, use beanbags and those blow up seats for their friends. Coloured rugs for tumbling and crawling on. Supersoft teddy bear blankets so they can curl up. Add in one of those soft blanket boxes for toy storage and so you have somewhere soft to perch when you are with them. Paper half way up the wall in the wall paper that kids can draw on, so they can decorate in whatever colour they like and you won't mind. A childs lift up desk, bookcase and some crazy lamps in weird colours. Then close the door, collapse on the sofa that you have moved, breathe a sigh of relief and thank your lucky stars that you have another room for the kids to go to. (Grab wine and pretend they aren't yours for half an hour! ;-) )

Thank you so much for coming back to me, I really appreciate it. We are now thinking a max 30 sq metre extension and we'll have to tear down the poorly constructed extension that's there at the moment that houses the kitchen and utility etc. The front room will be a formal Living room and the next room which is currently the dining room will become the open plan living dining kitchen. I need to include a utility playroom and office in there somewhere too

As much storage for the playroom as possible. A mix of shelves and baskets some built in for example around the chimney breast with a couple of freestanding pieces. A comfy sofa and a small table and some chairs for crafts. Love that island in your pic. Think of the future, and choose plain furniture that will last. You can always add colour with rugs, throws, cushions and art. Beanbags like Fatboy are great for children to watch tv. Make it a fun room.

So the door to the utility will be where the cross is (it was supposed to be from the kitchen but now that is built i don’t want the dust and i think the space works better with the door in the playroom)
