Where should I start with an extension and house renovation?

Hi,
I'm looking for some advice please.
I have put in planning permission for a single storey extension but the whole house needs renovating.
Should I do the extension first, or the main house apart from areas that are impacted by the extension.
Also, should I use 1 company to do the lot making it easier overall or get quotes for the different works?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
