Asbestos Siding removal: cost

Hi All,
We have a 95 year old house and as suspected we have asbestos sidings (cement asbestos tiles). I know that we can keep them as long as they are not damaged and friableā¦ but we have an extension project and would really like to get rid of it.
I got a quick quote from a contractor: $40.000 just to remove the siding. I think that he has not much experience with it and my understanding was that it would cost somewhere between 10-15k.
Does anyone has experience with this and how were they charged?
Our house is about 2000 sqft and in northern NJ.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
