Door style question

We want to replace our kitchen door with a sliding door as, due to the fact we have done some remodelling, the door now opens into an awkward space.
The doors in the house are six panel hollow doors. In the rest of the house we decided to paint them due to the cost to buy new ones. However, I don't think they'd work as a sliding door due to the fact they're hollow.
So, my question is really: which style of door should I go for in the space?
