What to do with bedroom cupboard?

In the main bedroom of our Victorian semi detached house, we have a cupboard. This cupboard is above the stairs. We are probably going to install some fitted wardrobes into the bedroom (where the bed currently sits in the picture) but we are not sure what to do with this cupboard. Incorporate this into the wardrobes or have as a separate cupboard? The cupboard is currently used for clothes/storage. Any advice or ideas appreciated.
