central downdraft extractor vs along the back vs other

last year

Hello!

Putting an induction hob on our island. Has anyone had a downdraft extractor that works well at pulling steam from the rings in the front? I see lacklustre reviews, but mainly from 2019 and prior. Hoping they have improved. My other option is a central downdraft OR a overhead. If overhead would be class to have flush with the ceiling. Need all the advice I can get for this extractor bit!

Thank you!

Sarah

The extractor business was an absolute nightmare and I lost so much sleep over it.  Our island hob is positioned partly under the steel beam, we weren't keen on down draft option so have gone with a flush ceiling extractor.  This is very slim and designed to fit between the ceiling beams, although whole ceiling in that section of room was lowered by about 2.5 inches to accomodate.  It isn't directly above hob but is more than powerful enough.  We are very pleased with it though it wasn't cheap.

Excuse the 2 holes next to it that builder needs to patch up.

We had a new kitchen done almost 2yrs ago now with an induction hob on the island. We’ve got a very high sloping ceiling so we knew a ceiling mounted extractor wasn’t going to work for us. We ended up going for a Bora hob with a central extractor (ours is recirculating) - and yes it was an expensive purchase but it has definitely been worth it. The extraction works really well - we never need more than 1/2 power I’d say (it can get quite noisy at full power!) - and it’s easy to clean.
