Colour suggestions for north-east facing guest room

Hi All, we'll soon be starting to decorate our guest room and could do with some ideas on colour choice. It's north-east facing and currently walls and ceiling are white. We've recently had the window replaced with a wooden sash, which is white. The ceiling will be painted in Dulux Heritage Flax Seed, to be consistent with the rest of upstairs. We're thinking the ceiling runs down to the join with the vertical walls for painting.

Would it work to have the end walls (window and opposite) a different colour to the side walls? If so, darker or lighter at the ends? The room is 3.51m (to window) x 2.77m.

The bookcases will probably go on the wall opposite the window and we'll be replacing the curtain pole with a French style pole in black. Will also be looking for a new light fitting. Skirting boards will be oak, along with the door and architrave. The floor is staying as it is.

I'm hoping to find space in here for a sewing corner. Any colour suggestions that will work with Flax Seed gratefully received. Oh and the bedding for this room is black and white with yellow/white on the reverse. We don't need to replace this so need to work with it. Current curtains are black, but could be replaced. Many thanks, Angie
