What is a nice light grey for interior window frames?

last year

I'm about to hit go on an order of aluclad windows. We're going to go jet black on the outside as want to line up for a black exterior on the house later on (ideally charred black wood or equivalent).

Inside I want to go for a white (though have been told don't do white aluclad as will look like PVC?) or a very light grey. Ours is a very minimalist colour palette, birch ply, white walls etc. Any advice on a RAL colour to pick for this? I think silk grey looks nice but has a touch of green to it?

Thank you Patricia. I just got back from tile store and saw this display which i think is beautiful - it's an italian marble so there will be inconsistencies which I think is actually what I love about it. I would imagine a cream colour kitchen but possibly with a light grey island, or would it be better to stay all the same?

Thanks Judy. I know oak doors and skirting boards will still have to be cleaned but I think there is a bit of leeway with dusting them - dust doesn't show quite so quickly! My windows havnt been finalised yet at all so I have plenty time, i just don't want to feel like im in a timber showroom with oak window frames, skirting, doors and floors when in my living room plus when standing in the hallway there will be the stairs (paint and oak steps), banisters, handrails, and the skirting and surrounds of four doorways. Any other way of getting around it? Must I have skirting boards??!

Firstly -- what a lovely home! The classical styling is very nice. Regarding the door color vs. trim color -- how dark the tones are compared to each other is the first thing to consider in this case. If the tones are similar, it may look very coordinated. In other words, I would prefer a charcoal along with a medium / dark blue. Compare different tones to see what works best for you. The second thing I would consider is the undertone of the grey. It will look one way at your kitchen table in planning stages and another way entirely next to the yellow of the house and the blue of the door. If you can determine the undertone of the grey -- great! That may help you to choose the type of blue to work with. If you still are having troubles after that, consider a blue with some grey in it. Have a lovely time of it. Color is a great thing to play with.

Hi. I don't think a curtain/s in the middle will work as you'll have the radiator either side plus a potential issue with the poles? Why not try Romans (if they fit, as i can't see the inside of the window frame!) and a single curtain either side? Rather than use tiebacks so they're draped across the window just use a holdback similar to the pic so they're held back instead. This one obviously has a pelmet but you could add poles which just overhang the top of the window slightly
