Boys bedroom help please!
hi everyone!
This is my boys bedroom. i need to add more shelves- i was thinking to take away the bookcase, do a full width shelf using those blue fixings which are there from a different shelving unit before the bunkbed, and then shelving down the wall where the bookcase is now, but for some of the shelves to be corner shelves with equal width on both walls. i love the dark wood with industrial brackets but is that the right sort of vibe?
the wall opposite is the white cupboards- should i change the colour of the door handles?
the blinds are blue purple and grey on an off white back. looking to also repaint- should i stick with the same neutral colour or go for something different? carpet is grey.

Here is my advice, I hope it will help you :)- For the shelves, be careful where you're going to place them from the top bed, to avoid your child bumping into them (measurements first). Then, I would either recommend using a narrow shelf like the one in the first picture or the Ikea space rack in the second picture.
- If you keep the bookcase, I would put the shelf halfway between the bookcase and ceiling. You can also remove the bookcase to create a reading nook / area with the beanbag. For the corner, you can use corner shelves or you can also alternate book boxes (3rd picture) on the facing wall (where the bookcase is) and side wall, to bring some dynamism.
- The dark wood with industrial brackets shelves could work well with the red metallic bedside table and blue of the bed and give an industrial vibe. However, I would tie everything together with an additional colour (light blue, green, orange, yellow) . As it's a children's room, you can keep it really playful and paint shapes in the corner or above the bed (see first picture). A rounded shape like an arch would bring more balance to the room as there is a predominance of straight rectangular shapes.
- For the white cupboards, I think you can keep them as they are or change to a mat black. What you can do is paint the inside panelling of the doors to echo with the colours you're going to put on the opposite wall or with the bed.

Comments (11)I would paint the room white and wall behind bed the same color pink that is in chair and then add prints above headboard and a large piece of art on wall on the right. Change pillows on chair and bed to modern and vibrant colors in grey/pink and yellow and add a coverlette to bottom. Purchase larger lamp for table on right and remove lamp from left side of bed and place a tray and some books on the ottoman. Move carpet to beside the bed. Comments (23)Adding width BEHIND THE BED - with a headboard (which doesn't have to be a "headboard"; it could be fabric, collection of mirrors, collection of pictures, a farm gate!, small chairs or stools) across the entire width. Matching bedside tables/bookcases/chests/ with LAMPS - useful storage for extra books, extra bedding, etc. CURTAINS always warm up a room. People will always feel colder away from home - provide an extra blanket or duvet to add to the bed. I notice there is no WARDROBE. Not really necessary for overnight guests (provide hooks on the back of the door) but useful for storing your out-of-season coats, etc. There is plenty of room behind the door.
