Hello Houzzers,

I’m looking for these two items that I saw in American interior design magazines/websites. Any idea where I could get similar products in the UK?

Thanks for the feedback, we had something similar in mind. Would you suggest bringing the door out to the front? What about the windows either side, we would think about replacing maybe in a different colour, possibly grey, and add some cedar cladding to the house front and paint walls grey. We are also toying with the idea of bring double doors out to the front with arclight over head and then to add coving around the windows with arc that mirrors the arc light to try and soften the whole angular look to to the front. Hello Oris1978, What I would start with is painting the walls... Try a really lovely chalky cream.. Little Greene do a nice one called whitening.. It is bright and chalky and much nicer than a plain white.. Then get some nice roller blinds (for budget) Also in a light colour cream or white or something to compliment any flooring you might get... I see you don't want to spend a lot but I want to suggest a flooring. The tiles are not bad but if they are damaged then I would suggest a Lino. May not be exciting you think but when you have looked at the options from Sinclair Till, I think you will change your mind.. Images attached... There are many and I have chosen a few really fantastic designs along with a plainer one, so you get the idea. The floor space is quite big so make the most of that... Move the table and chairs further into the centre of the room... I'd even suggest painting them as well...Take the sofa out of the kitchen and move the other table to where the sofa is, if it's a table.. Can't quite tell? I'd place the items like toaster and kettle nearer so they are grouped together, thus more practical... Maybe invest in something that isn't white. I have to say one of the best investments for the kitchen has to be a Dualit toaster in Chrome! It's a style beauty! A good kettle to go with it and you're set. Dualit does a good kettle too I think it's called Architect? It too is chrome **If floor tiles are good then blinds to match in a sheer fabric not blackout as sheer is lighter and more subtle... The painting... it's lonely! Get something else or move it to a smaller piece of wall... It's really too small in that location... Box in the meter and those bits and all is neat, paint the same colour as the walls.. Voila! : ))

It looks very good James. Even though as you say it was a clients design build, it works fine. Once the Island has stools it will fill it out better. Has that naked look at the moment. The position of the wine rack might cause issues but overall it looks like a really clean and fresh kitchen. Plenty of natural light and the colours compliment each other. The extractor is a nice feature too. Everyone has different opinions as I see on here but if the client is happy with it then job done. Looks really well fitted too.....well done :)

The pictures you have above the sofa would serve you better if displayed in a hallway or foyer or even in a larger collection of photos in a family room. You definitely need more color in this room and a larger area rug. The sofa and wall colors look the same on my computer, so I suggest you paint the walls a color that will make the sofas stand out more. I also would suggest you find a much larger, print area rug that contains an accent color and center it in the room. Perhaps you could find a large, colorful picture to serve as wall art and also as the inspiration for the color scheme and especially for the accent color I suggested. In addition to the rug, you could use the accent color in throws and throw pillows to be placed on the sofas. I also would like to suggest that you add a wide piece of white-painted trim above the windows/patio doors (whatever) and attach the metal rod to this piece of trim. The trim will add emphasis to the glassed-in space as well as to the dark-colored rod and curtains.
