Same colour cabinets in bedroom and in kitchen

After some time saving i can finally afford to get a new kitchen and new fitted wardrobes in my bedroom. I have picked gloss cashmere for kitchen cabinet colour but undecided on wardrobe colour. i do like matt cashmere / mussell / taupe grey as want a warm feel to the room but cannot decide on colour. I do like Matt cashmere but woukd it look too much if i had same colour in bedroom and kitchen? style would be different as one gloss plain door and other matt shaker style.

Hi. If you like the colour, go for it.. it your house. I personally like a uniformed look in a house.

Go for it, cashmere is such a lovely gentle colour. No one will be able to see both rooms at the same time! 😊. My wardrobes from Sharpes are a soft taupe and I love the look.

I would use the same flooring throughout, give your separation of spaces visually with decor and I love Vancouver Day from C2 paint I have it all through my house in different strengths, very neutral so almost anything goes with it.

Fads come and go. Pick what you love, not what is in style. Make your home yours. Take samples to your home of all the materials you think your may like, cover colors that you are not going to keep with some white paper and live with the samples for a few days. The lighting in your home and the other colors that you have in your kitchen and in the adjoining rooms will guide your selection. I have done this often and every time I walk into a room with samples I find myself drawn to one or another consistantly and the decision is made based on what feels good to me.

I can perfectly understand that you don't want an additional door off the hall, and do you really want to approach the utility with washing etc, through a hall anyway? I just wonder why you want to make the door disappear, when its not on a wall with units? If it were, it might be easy to paint it/finish it similar to cabinets, but in the middle of the wall it will stand out anyway, whatever you do. To my mind, it might be better to just put an ordinary door in there, similar to other interior ones or glass paneled if you wan the light. If you are going to do it out with similar units to kitchen, it will flow in any case, if you can see them. Several friends have done this lately and it looks fine and the continuity through the glass paneled door just seems to make the kitchen appear even larger and lighter.

Hi Orla. I've looked at your ideabook and assume you're happy to stick with the monotone look? I'd look at papering the ŵall behind the bed in Cole and son library panel wallpaper in midnight (pic will follow but it would also look good in a light shade!). The rest of the walls I'd do in a pale but warm grey. Which way does the room face in terms of lights? Go for black bedside cabinets but maybe something with curved lines or round handles against the bed. Either glass bedside lamps with white shades or in a warm metal or pendants hung low over the bedsides, Stick to white bed linen but add a charcoal throw with lots of texture. Choose cushions with different texture and patterns from White through to charcoal. Depending on what flooring you have you could also add a grey textured rug under the bed. I'd go for plain pale-mid grey curtains. If you have the space/budget a patterned black/grey and white chair would look great. I think the key thing is texture for interest so maybe also a large antiqued mirror, a chandelier with a silk drum shade, white flowers etc.

Not at all, you could choose different complementary wall colours for both rooms if you wanted (although i do quite like wardrobes being the same colour as walls!).

No. It is fine to do the same colour - depending on where they are in the house it would actually appear slightly different in colour anyway as this would be affected by the light coming into the room (both natural and artificial), what's outside the windows and the other colours and items within the room.

It is a lovely colour - and having one in matt and one in gloss wouldn't be an issue either - in fact it would give a uniformed cohesive look but also have a slightly different tone which will be lovely.

No issues picking the same colour - you can always accent the rooms very differently if so desired.

Cashmere, Limestone & Taupe remain our most popular colours for a bedroom, with soft greys & subtle blues close behind.

"Sand oak" has also proven a very popular options - soft, soothing, natural and very hard wearing.

Matt shakers are timeless and will give a more opulent traditional feel, though with careful design & handle choice can feel suitably contemporary.

Take care with gloss slab doors - they can show every fingerprint, depending on lighting conditions and without good design can be bland/clinical.
