big challenge with bedroom colours

Hi All. We moved house and our bedroom has older wardrobe. We absolutely love the quality but I cannot think about the colour scheme to go with this. I do not mind going bold. Happy for all ideas and suggestions. It has been a year and I thought I would come up with something but finding it too challenging. Hope you can help!

I would also definitely go white if the windows are on the green wall. Will be much more natural to tie the accent wall with the stark wht contrasting walls. Always a very chic contemporary look. Also very relaxing as opposed to the treatments standing out when you already have your standout feature- the green accent wall. Great white bed you ordered! Then I love all the blue/green/ silver accent advice. I did a similar room in purples/greys/ whites and we used great posted prints of florals with a little oriental flair in nice big mats w frames. You could do florals or nice big botanicals in greens would be very fresh and modern!! White or silver frames or maybe even the shock of black would be cool.

Colourwise I would look at apportioning your colours like so… Soft warm grey on the walls. If this is possible, tie in a subtle paper on one wall in similar colour. If a carpet is needed, just a shade down from the walls, to ground it but retain the soft base grey. Small amount of brown in dark wood, on furniture. But try and keep it light. No chunky dark woods. Choose slim legs and profiles. All loose fabrics such as floor length curtains, or roman blinds. Duvet cover, pillow cases, keep white. Accents on trims, cushions and accessories, can be quite flexible here. Could be mustard, or fuschia. But choose one colour that works and stick to it. Then just try to have soft textures in keeping with a cosy bedroom. Looking through to the en-suite. You can expand on you accent colour here, and use that to invite you in. One wall painted fuschia, or statement glass tiles. But you want the view in to be inviting. Try and use that if you can. I hope that helps.

Hi. I'm not that keen on the paper with the rest of the room, it doesn't look bad at all but it doesn't look stunning either imo. Everything else looks to be more of a greige? I'd look at the same paper in truffle, sable, dark linen or even the pewter may work ( hard to tell colours on screen so would get samples of all!). I agree with the others, would go for plain bed linen and add pattern in cushions and/ or throw. It looks as if a chalk pink would work best with the greige. Maybe a chalky white for the remaining furniture. You could also break up the window ŵall by adding a trim and maybe Pom poms to the bottom of the blind. A little antique gold for accessories, lights etc would also work well.

I can see a grey carpet but what colour is the bed, bedding and curtains? And are the wardrobes white or cream?

It might be possible to paint the wardrobe. Doing it same colour as the walls, or a shade darker or lighter, can look very smart.

Holly C. is right, don't let that colour limit you if you don't like it. If you do keep it try to think of perhaps changing the handles. We often find that timber is much warmer and a more enjoyable material to touch. This could mean that you could put in Ash or Oak handles and then look for similar other furniture (e.g. bed frame and bedside tables). You could then match a white curtain. When we design we generally avoid keeping carpets as they collect dirt and look bad after a short while, so another suggestion would be to remove them entirely if the floor below (timber?) is nice. then add a large rag partially under the bed. All depends on your style and what you like which is a personal experience and taste based on your entire life and memories so I would suggest having a good look on Pinterest and seeing what you really admire and then implementing in your scheme. good luck.

Personally I think seeing the wood surrounding a gloss door dates these wardrobes and I would update them by painting the dark wood in the same colour as the doors. Of course you can also paint the doors if you don’t like the cream. If you do paint the sides and/or doors of the wardrobe you will need a good primer.

I think the existing carpet and curtains could work with a delicate grey and pink scheme in which case I would probably get rid of the cream and have a pale grey or white finish instead.

Overall, you can treat it as a blank canvas since it’s white. However, for the wood colour I think a lighter warm stain may look better with blush pink colour. I agree that you could add new handles, maybe a bolder pink to add a splash of colour?? Hope this helps.
