Curtain pole help needed!

My house has these original pelmet things above each window, and I'm confused about what type of pole I can get to fit in such a small gap and how I will be able to drill it in. Does anyone out there have similar, or know what I need??
The previous owners only had blinds up, no curtains. The space is 4cm at the narrow end bit.

Look for curtain "track" rather than a pole - you will get brackets that screw up into the top part.

I do not see velvets and silks for a kitchen sink window sorry. There are plenty of gorgeous fabrics around with beautiful damask or geometric pattern that are striking, that could be found in a faux silk or linen. Velvet is something that I would never put in a kitchen. But it is your kitchen.

You need to measure all this. We have no idea what size your space is. If it's 8ft Ceiling, I would think you would wanna look for 96"h Panels, and hem them if necessary, you may need several panels in a row to achieve your purpose of covering the kitchen. Put the track on the ceiling for this purpose. Put the rods for the living room window a couple inches below the ceiling, hem the curtains. You could be using the same ceiling track here as well. Or the wire track from IKEA, etc. your call.

You could use roman shades and panels on the sides or room darkening curtains, the first set of draperies are available at Bed, Bath and Beyond :-)

Window shopping and lots of online browsing.! .haven't purchased anything yet!. Just getting house back in order after painting! I have put back the red/winey curtains that I previously had up...convinces me more to go with a neutral colour. The walls are rich Taupe but with a slight grey hue off them so I think the bottom left above actually might work. I have bedding very similar so I took them out and held up and think it would look very nice. Purple isn't a theme in my house (although I do have one bedroom painted purple/lilac) My sitting room is white red black and silver and living/kitchen room is tan and red. I want a rug that wont show up the dirt that much...I live in the country side and have lots of dirty feet coming in so I cant go for any rug that is too light in colour
