Can't find kitchen handles

I've been looking for replacement kitchen cupboard handles and can not find the sizes anywhere. The hold centre is 550mm, kitchen is discontinued.

any suggestions would be greatly welcomed

Not sure what you were looking for but I've used a company called The Copper Creative before. They made custom handles for me as my sizes were quite strange and in-between standard sizes apparently. Also a bit pricey but definitely worth it. https://thecoppercreative.co.uk/

They've been around for a few years. Going by the name I expect all of their stuff is made from copper or is copper coloured so may not be your style.

Have a look on Hafele.co.uk. It is a trade only site but there are thousands to choose from on there. Once you have found what you’re looking for give them a ring to ask for a local retailer to buy through.

Depending on what you choose Tool Station and Screwfix stock some of them.

You should probably think of the floor covering in the overall plan as a light colour or dark colour may have an impact on whether you choose a light or dark colour for the worktop. Two different worktops, one on the island and one on the rest of the units might look well too. I like timber for an island but only if you don't need the worktop to be heat resistant and it's not near the sink. We've picked a dark grey for our island and will probably choose an off white worktop with a vein in it to contrast with it. Good luck with your decisions!

I'm deciding on colours for my new build kitchen. I know I want a light grey kitchen with a charcoal worktop but would a dark tile on the floor create a "sandwich" effect and make the room appear small. I can't find many photos of grey kitchens with dark worktop - are there reasons this combination is avoided? Thanks for all advice.

550mm centres does seem very big for a kitchen cabinet. Perhaps I'm misunderstanding your requirements as often, even large handles are only around 200mm centres for the mounting points.

A great way to refresh a kitchen is to swap the handles and perhaps you could swap to a single handle and fill the other hole?

It’s a trade only site so I’m fairly certain they won’t deal with you direct as you have to open an account and purchase from them regularly. They should however let you know of a local supplier.
