Blue and pink stains under paint

Hello everyone. We started to paint the living room and the next days some of the paint have came off. Showing blue and pink stains underneath. What it might be? How to get rid of it? Therenis not pipes in that wall. Thank you so much

Did you paint straight on to plaster or onto paper? if its plaster some times if there's painted layers underneath they can seep through.

Hi, it is plaster, I thing... It seems like chalk. It is strange as the paint bubbled, but just in this area. The rest of the room is perfect.

Mary, it has been a while since I read the comments. I think you can take your time with growing with your new decluttered kitchen. It is truly beautiful with just the changes. Don't go spend a ton of money, save it and go on a holiday to a state park or something you have always wanted to do. If your friends that you invite over for dinner don't love ...... well just coming over and visiting,.... then oh well. As long as you are happy, but no need to break the bank..... you did great already. I love it, if you do more, please share though? And to bamamom, I so agree with you! My own, awful, claustrophobic kitchen is LESS than 8 ft x 11 ft... yep that tiny and horrible. I have taken out the nasty, dropped ceiling and have the slightly vaulted original one now, but with pipes showing where the HVAC was put in after and then the repiped ones....... I did not know they plumber would do this, much less the others were there.... gag me. And no money to do it up even decent.

How will you pose for your Miss Photogenic photo op? Will you go with the Carmen Miranda fruit bowl tiara? Or would the Easter egg thingamadooeys suffice? Decisions, decisions..... Maybe Grover could photo shop each one with your dress so we can decide? We wouldn't want to break any decorating rules because we do have our reputations to uphold. LOLOLOLOLOL

Hello CG, you can buy some of these and try them on site. From the pictures you posted I get the feeling you have 2 colors with similar saturation both fighting for attention. It's a little too much. I would keep the green but go softer on the red (i.e rust). You can also let yourself be inspired by the grey/silver/bordeaux floral and stripe pillows to create a brand new color scheme using these colors instead. For example, a very soft gray on the walls, gray carpet, grey/bordeaux combo in the curtains and for the sofa accents, pillows similar to these 2. It's decision time. Go for what speaks to you, but do it with elegance :-)

A lot of the results are saying its down to UV degredation, or "Chalking" meaning the surface underneath is degraded/damaged so it prevents the paint from addearing to the surface. The only way to get rid of it is either pressure washing or a stiff brush and washing detergent in the affected area.

I can guess that you are renovating old property and this is your external wall (interior walls are usually fine and not as much heat barrier dependant) might be lack of insulation within the wall, or condensation behind or you might have different plaster.. Are you sure that you are applying correct paint to your plaster? hard to guess by low quality of picture (if) lime plaster then you need mineral paints.. chalking means that your surface is not stable so whatever you apply, won't be able to hold.. (if) your walls are fine and normal and no water/moisture/etc behind it.. then it might be your cold spot (is it back door on right of picture) ?
